Poll: Most Despised Laker
For the most part, one could safely assume that we here at PTR do not like the Lakers. To this guy, the thought of a Lakers victory is like screeching on a chalkboard.
Besides their winning tradition, there's a wide variety of fun and exciting rasons to not like the Lakers. Maybe you're a Celtics fan. Maybe they've hit the big shot to beat your team. How about their fans? Maybe you just cannot, for the life of you, understand why the media loves them unconditionally. The Lakers are always the team to beat, whether they're the defending Champs, or not. They're probably the most popular team in the NBA, if not all of sports. To their credit, there is a very rich history that includes the second most Championship banners in the history of the NBA, and plenty of retired numbers hanging on top of the Staples Center that earned those banners. Not all of the Lakers are bad. Some of the old timers I even like! But these newbies...nope. So, once again, I ask you all, who is your most despised Laker? And why?

My goodness, someone voted for Wilt (I think of him as a Philly player). Was it the political leanings or the women or the feud with Kareem that inspired you?
I’m not aware of either’s political leanings, but I could definately see where a rivalry, or some jealousy could happen. I can imagine he probably did not like Kareem maybe ‘taking over’ for him with LA? Or winning 5 Championships when he only won 1 with LA [2 for his career, Kareem finished with 6 – and broke his scoring record (the one on the basketball court v. .v)- and won 6 MVP’s, to Wilt’s 5]. Talk about a good rivalry. :)
Do you know about the politics, or where I can read more?

This is an old article on the most hated athletes, but Kobe manages to come in a respectable fifth place.
too many on this list. i’m voting for karl malone because i hate him more than anyone in the basketball world, but imma try to vote more than once, so i can add that puxxy sasha vujacic to the list, just for GP. he was the manu stopper!!! you remember, the one-legged, gimpy ankle manu stopped. but i really will cast for him because he is about on par with kevin garnett’s maturity level….and we put KG on this list?
….and you jusy know that i have to cast for shaq too………
I regret that I have but one vote to give to this post.
I wanted to vote for Snaq or the Colorado Casanova (thank you Stampler), but I think it begins and ends with the hypocrisy of Phil Jackson.

i don’t know if this qualifies as hypocrisy, but I don’t like that Phil feels it necessary to always take potshots at players that used to play for him and left (i.e. shaq, though I could care less about people thinking he is a tool).

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.
