So whats the team going to look like come this time next year

Hopefully we will have Tim, who will be surrounding him, whats the rotation going to be like will Gooden stick around?  Do we want him to? What will we do with George?  Can he become a starter?  Where do we put him?  What about Roger?  Can he be a 2 guard for the forseeable future?  What are his issues with coming off the bench?

So much to figure out.

Heres a good start

Hoops Hypes Contracts

I think Goodens gone, I pray Findog gets nothing more, ditto Imme JV et al.  It would be good to see Ian back as our athletic big etc.

What say you the people?

The SPURS need a deeper backcourt. The should shop a sixth man one who really is a

6th man, one who can create his own shots get to the basket shoot the ball consistently

and create for other players defense would be a nice plus,

this would be pure awesome

Let Roger take over from Findog as the spot up 3 point shooter and see how he settles into that role. Let Manu Roam free in the starting 5.

It will be interesting to see where Hairston turns up, because he is back in Austin even though he was waived, and we just picked up Marucs Williams as a possible point forward.

Both those guys have a season in the spurs centric Toros and some limited game time in San Antonio under their belt. I’d think they would be moving up to the bigs but you never know.

I can stand Bon Bons money if he is used in spots. If he is starting PF it’ll be terrible.

I’m also in the bring Gooden back if the money is right camp.

So that would give us

TP/George
Manu/Mase
Bowen/????
Gooden/ Bon Bon
T.D/ Ian/K.T

I don’t know where Marcus Williams fits in I have never seen him hold a spalding in his hand and the only read i have on him is the love given to him by Tim Varner & Graydon over at the always excellent 48minutesofhell.

Small Forward looks to be an issue. If Hairston is here and IF they give him a shot at the bigs again he’d obviously be in the rotation somewhere.

Can Bruce be relied on again to be a starting level SF for an entire season of grind?

I have not even put Fab on there. I just don’t see him having a spot here come next season.

Id love to have Gooden back

My guess is that they bide their time until the Free Agent Frenzy in 2010.

Ime would depend on Bowens regression

Mahinmi and Hill MUST be part of the rotation next year, Bonner should continue doing what he did this year

But if Finley is back and Gooden reups and Mahinmi isnt optioned back to Austin, the roster is really set.

Which brings me back to my original assertion, they, like the rest of the NBA, are stocking up for 2010

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I’m willing to give Gooden the benefit of the doubt and see him back for another year and see if his defense improves. I base this solely on the fact that KT looked pretty shitty last season due to him not having enough time to learn the system. We should give Gooden a chance of at least one training camp

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.

I agree with you, HSF. I’d like to see a season from Gooden after a full training camp under his belt.

Isn’t this post just a bit premature?

Not really premature

The playoffs roll on, and I am kind of sick of saying the same things about D, not playing George enough, and Matt Bonner wandering off into the woods for the duration of the series.

The contracts are there we can talk it out like the steadfast humas we are.

Personally i don’t really want Findog back, but a single season 2.5 mill could really make for an appealing trade figure. A lot of small expirings can make it easier to match salary in trades, and the spurs seems to have a few of them.

I have a lot to say about this, but I’m saving it for the offseason. I don’t think we should talk this way until it’s over, but to each his own.

I’m just discussing the spurs.
