New Dirty Rumor Vinsanity!
Spurs interested in Vince Carter?
The New Jersey Nets have spoken to San Antonio, Chicago, Cleveland and, surprisingly, Toronto about guard Vince Carter, the Newark Star-Ledger is reporting.
The Spurs are reportedly weighing up whether Carter would push them over the top in the West, but with San Antonio's salary structure being top-heavy, it's hard to see how a deal would be worked out.
No, just no. It wouldn't work. Aside from the fact that in our halfcourt set having 3 ballhandlers (Ginobili, Parker, Carter) would end up limiting all of them. Carter is talented but no way the Spurs take the risk. Plus his contract is horrible.

Don’t forget that he’s an admitted quitter.

No VC.
Please. Exactly, Jolly, I immediately thought the same thing. He is not a Spur.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnndddddddddd...
…who would we trade in return? Unless they’d give VC for JV, or another scrub (which I realize is completely unlikely), I’m opposed.

It goes without saying that I wouldn’t give up any of the big 3 for him, and outside of that, who would NJ even want from our team? Unless they are just looking to dump salary. It is not clear how he’d help us either; every possession he used would be one fewer for TP or Manu, who are more efficient players.
However… what if VC turned into someone useful (Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine O’Neal) via some sort of 3-way deal? I trust the Spurs’ FO. If there’s a deal out there that makes sense, they’ll do it, if not, they won’t.
