J.A. Adande is an idiot

In his ESPN chat today, somebody asked him about Ricky Rubio and he said that he wants to see him play in the NBA before judging him because of some of the struggles of other foreign players in the past and he pointed out that Manu comes off the bench.  That led to this exchange:

Umm, J.A. Ginobili has been an all-star and a key piece of several championships. What are you talking about?

SportsNation J.A. Adande: (3:45 PM ET ) Not saying he hasn't been great. But he's the best player on the court in Int'l comp. Argentina's whole team is built around him. you'd think that would make him a starter on every team in the NBA. He's a sixth man on the Spurs. Shows you the difference in the games.

So, Adande thinks that Manu comes off the bench because Mason and Finley are better?

Yep, he’s an idiot. Just goes to show that you don’t actually have to pay attention to what goes on in the league, you just have to suck up to Kobe and Stern.

Or, in Abbott’s case, Garnett and Stern.

Wait……Abbott, as in, “I made ATS famous Abbott??”

How quickly you turn.

This is a great opportunity to point out once more that Abbott secretly hates the Spurs.

Proof. (I’ll keep linking to that for a long time.)

he didn’t write “Nobody wants to watch the damn Spurs” though. He just published an e-mail of somebody else who wrote that.

That he chose from thousands he gets. The opinion is garbage, and he posted it. That’s enough for me.

hey....

Henry is a freaking good man. He is very impartial..

FFS the man put so much run into that Ethical Defence of Bruce Bowen thing. He Gives TImmeh lots of print time as well.

He posted that email because it was a good talking point and an interesting side story. Very much like everything that gets posted.

Having someone shout (okay, type in all caps) that, and I quote:

NO ONE GOES TO AN NBA GAME TO SEE THE DAMN SAN ANTONIO SPURS.

is not a good talking point, and definitely not an interesting story. But maybe it’s just me.

Controversial opinions are way more interesting than cosy warm huggy opinions

I do think the mainstream media ignores the spurs, Henry reports around the league pretty consistently. However he reports on sites around the league, and snipits from the mainstream that have basketball connotations etc.

Hence if the mainstream promotes that constantly travelling, throwing up massive amounts of bad jumpshots when i could take my man to the hole and score at will, clownshoes lebron “I talk about myself in the 3rd person” james, more of that will find it’s way onto the pages of Truehoop.

IF Henry actually reported more spurs than lakers etc it would be a reflection of byass. Not the other way round.

P.S I do think that he reports too much blazers.

How about that spelling error....

Byass…instead of bias

thats actually fantastic…a bad opinion with a heavy favouring of homerism. An opinion of Ass.

I kind of agree, but not really. I’m all for controversial opinions, but you can be controversial and still make some worthwhile analysis. If he’s going to post any tripe he’s sent, then soon he’ll just quote stuff like “You know what? Kobe sucks.”

Oh, wait, that’s basically what he did.

My point is, insults may cause controversy, but I’ll reserve the right to call whoever posts them a hater.

Would I be required to watch a few episodes of “The Bachelor” to take some points off my IQ before being hired — or would they just let me just sniff some glue after I got my offer?

The NBA tried hard to promote Manu as an NBA star during the ’05 playoffs and the effort was met with a huge backlash. Everyone thinks of him just as a flopper, if they think anything of him at all. Tony gets the pub now because of his wife, and everyone seems happier with this.

Scoop and Hollinger are the only ESPN folks that are Manu fans.

I’m definitely missing something. I read his whole chat twice, and I can’t find the comment that inspired the Manu tangent. Nothing about Rubio anywhere. Is my version different than everyone else’s?

I tried to copy the original question

but when I went back it had disappeared and only the Q&A posted above was still there. The original one made you kinda think, “What does he mean?” The 2nd one is when he stupidly confirmed his original stupidity. If he was just straight bashing Manu I would just dismiss it, but he actually defended his statement that Manu doesn’t start, therefore Manu is not good enough to start. It makes me think that he is ignorant rather than biased.

The whole ESPN crew is…. boring and obvious. Hollinger gets my respect, even if sometimes he trusts too much in his numbers. Adande is the biggest prick. I dont even bother reading his articles. 90% of them are about Kobe and the lakers. He is suposed to be an objective journalist, but he is 10 times more amateur than any average blogger out there, his fanatism with the lakers is incredible.
BTW, argentina is not constructed around Manu Ginobili. Maybe in the last olympics he had the rock in his hands a lot, but before that our biggest strength (and the reason we beat Usa twice) is that 5 capable offensive players shared the ball and made quick passes. Manu only broke down defenses on the ocasional play when time was winding down. Seriously, Adande doesnt know shit about basketball. Fuck him.

If that comment from J.A. Adande was in the right context, he surely CAN"T be that stupid, can he?

Ever since the Manu move to the bench in the 05 playoffs?, there has been so much discussion by so many media outlets about this strategic move,
how it boosts the bench and gives the shooters (Finley, Mason) time to get going etc
and how other teams may do the same thing (eg Terry in Dallas(I HATE HIM!!!!))

Maybe he IS that stupid.
