Yes Tony is the man but....
......lets not forget the tenacious team D. Two games in a row with the opponents under 40% (minus our defensive anchor no less). I figured the defensive intensity would pick up the closer we came to the playoffs but thought it would do so gradually. I guess Tim and Manu BOTH being out helped to kickstart the shut down tenacity. If they can maintain this, as well as the BIG 3 reuniting to wreak havoc and headaches for opposing teams and their coaches, we should be in for a fun, long ride.

I think an important thing that you said is that “Tim and Manu BOTH being out helped to kickstart the shut down tenacity.” Even without our best defender, the guys on this team knew that they could not coast and win these last two games. The upped their intensity on defense and it showed. I can’t wait to see the whole team playing like this.

No doubt. Let’s hope the backed into a corner mentality carries over when at full strength.

The title makes the best point
Yeah, Tony Parker is the man. And now, maybe he knows it.
Timmy’s always been the Stone Buddah. Manu holds the world record for Not Giving a F**k Who You Are. But Tony’s always been the question mark – he can disappear, he can get huffy or selfish. Sometimes it’s all about him in a way that’s not true for the others.
That’s why I say, screw it. Let’s bring Tim AND Manu off the bench when they get healthy – initially to warm them up, but then as general policy. Why on earth would you bench Goat Puff in his prime? Because you can. Because with Tony running a kinda-scrubby starting five, you’ve still got one of the best teams in the league … and with Tim and Manu off the bench, you’ve got by far the greatest second unit in the history of the universe. Not to mention the fact that you screw up every single team you play by forcing them to rejigger their lineups to meet this unconventional tactic.
Let the Spurs be Tony’s team. Because when the Wee Rappin’ Frenchman is feeling like The Man, he can lead an offense and support a defense that can hang with anybody. And Tim and Manu? What do they care? They’ll be waiting in the wings, getting rested and healthy and destroying the competition for 25 minutes a night. No egos, no angst. Just cold-blooded winning.

YEAH I love this strategy. Lets fuck up all the competition with our bizarre moves.

I agree, for the most part. Bring them back slowly coming off the bench, allowing their batteries to recharge and various ailments to mend. However, unless they’re simply destroying every team that they face with this strategy, come playoff time all 3 back to starting and playing heavy minutes.

I would actually do the opposite. After watching the scrubs play last night against Cleveland, I think Tony would be awesome running our “2nd” unit(air quotes because Pop doesn’t agree with me about who’s in the second unit.)
Imagine this unit coming off the bench once they’re all healthy *cough*Ian*cough*
Tony
Mason
Malik
Pops
Ian
This is the kind of high energy, athletic team(OK, not Roger) we need on the floor while the starters rest – but they need to have at least one of the big three out there to keep it under control, and Tony would seem to fit the bill.
