"stress reaction"
WTF is that?……DUDE……just when he was returning form. I hope this doesn’t linger

it’s a lesser form of stress fracture. If you continue to “stress” whatever area is injured, it will eventually develop into stress fractures. I get stress reactions alot right below my knees when i run long distances

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.

k , this is per a radiologist here at Tucson Med Center where i work…….A stress reaction is something normally associated with the weight bearing bone of the lower leg, the tibia ( he and another Doc said they had never heard of it occuring in the fibula, which aids in ankle support)…….he went on to say the stress reaction could just be a superficial irritation of the bone due to repetitive stress…however it could also be a microfracture….
This kinda reminds me of the offseason
The Spurs didn’t add anyone that fans liked at the time (Mason and Hill) and Manu was injured. Hopefully the Spurs can add a big who has been bought out or bring Pops up from Austin and Manu comes back fresh and healthy for the playoffs.
Manu Math
First off, ignore this post if you are a Hollinger hater… it’s just math based on nothing but our win/loss percentage with/without Manu this year, so take it for what it is.
We’ve played 14 games without Manu this season and went 6-8 (42.9%).
We’ve played 38 games with Manu and gone 29-9 (76.3%).
If the above holds true and Manu misses 12 games and is back for March 14th we’ll go 5-7 without him and then 13-5 in our last 18 with him in the lineup.
6+29+5+13 = 53
53 wins would get us in at 6th or 7th based on last years standings. Actually, 53 wins will get us the division this year if Nooch keeps up its current projection of 50 wins.
The unbelievable part is that we are 76% with Manu in the lineup. Based on the math above, If he stayed healthy we’d be looking at 58 wins.
Conclusion (based on my very limited Manu Math):
1) We still have hope.
2) Manu is freaking-unbelievably important to us.
I love math like this, and instantly feel much better.
All is not lost, friends.

The Manu situation as told to me from a first hand persective. Manu has a sore ankle. Feels wobbly on the ankle but limited inflammation so he continues to play. Midseason break arrives and he takes off three full days. Works outs commence. Ankle still sore and wobbly.
Docs notice ankle is tender to touch so xrays taken. Negative. MRI. Negative. CT scan. Damage to osteoblasts a few inches above the ankle. Multiple hairline fractures possible on fibula. Recovery six weeks to two months.
Three phase bone scan ordered. Diagnoses downgraded. Stress reaction requiring seven to fifteen days of air cast. During this stage electrotherapy in addition to pool based calf and foot exercises. Following stage consists of five to seven days of regular activity. If bone scan shows improvement, clearance will be given. To clear up a few matters. Manu never faced the peril of being out for the season. Worst case scenario had him returning during first set of the playoffs. If all goes well he could be rehabilitating only 12 to 13 days. Worst case about one month. Be aware that he will have to undergo testing throughout to chart the health of the fibula. If situation worsens he would have to repeat the phases. Likelihood of reoccurrence is 20 to 30 percent. Thank you and god bless.

SpursTalk. Some guy, first time poster. No one knows him, but this seems too accurate not to be true.

Hey
I’m a Lakers fan but I hope Manu gets back soon. Hate to see anyone get hurt.
Oh crap. Looks like he’ll be back in time for the next the Spurs / Lakers game. (just kidding – really do hope he’s back soon). But that last second loss in San Antonio still burns.
