Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

Granted, initially the needed pieces for a hard nosed defensive team were not in place for Steve Kerr and Terry Porter. Apparently it was too much to ask for the impatient Sons fans/media (Spurs are their DADDY) to endure the style change and  growing pains associated with. The writing was on the wall, we all saw this coming. Too bad for them. THIS is why it will be a long time (if ever) before they win a championship.

i think alot of the players just didn’t respect Porter, to be honest. first year coach with a bunch of veterans wasn’t smart. Porter was doomed the day he was hired. I think it was Stephen A. Smith said he would have players do walk-throughs at 8 a.m. in uniform before away games, which is just stupid when usually every game is a night game. I usually don’t want to give Smith any credibility cause i usually think he’s just blowing hot air and making no sense, but if this is true, Porter has no idea how to coach professional, multi-millionaire basketball players.

Sucks they are going down the tube (kinda), but you are right raynor, they are too impatient and probably incredibly bitter the Suns SSoL era has been buried and their championship window has been closed for who knows how long.

so far, Kerr has been doing a very, very bad GM job. I might even go to assume he’ll be out of a job as well in the next couple years if he doesn’t infuse this team with new blood and a new identity.

Kerr said it himself: genius or idiot. So… idiot.

Agreed. I think generally speaking, whoever the coach or GM is for whatever team that is trying to tranform their identity into that of a championship one, you have to have the patience and stability to ride out the growing pains. Kerr probably is on his way out too, but I think more so because it was kind of a lose-lose situation (keep things the same and never get over the playoff hump, or change the system and probably experience some growing pains all the while having the impatient fans/media ready to drop the hatchett.

Same thing that is happening with the Pistons. You need a very veteran coach for a veteran team. Coaches like Porter and Curry are better suited for younger teams me thinks.

This is true, a veteran coach for a veteran team would be ideal, for starters

I never understood why they canned D’Antoni and switched around the whole team.

They did a Rome is Burning section on Kerr today and Jim really let him have it.

LatinD, I forgot about that quote. Ouch.
