What I miss......

My very first post.  Surely not the last. I am relatively new to this site and I've got to say, well done gents (and lady). The homerism and Manu love is unequaled anywhere on the web. Top of my favorites list, without a doubt.

I should stop right here,  STFU and be happy with what the boys have accomplished. Unfortunately, I can't. We are on pace to match the last million years, Manu is once again the stud we know and love, Tim is far from being sent out to pasture, we just beat that snot-nosed whiny little biotch CP3 (how I loathe him) and the hapless Suns and that lummox Snaq, teams still fear us and, lastly, we are tied for the best record in the league over December and January.  Cleveland and Boston are 22-6, Orlando and us, The Mighty Spurs, are 23-7, and the lowly Lakers are 23-8. Yes, we are percentage points behind, but never mind that. The important thing is the Lakers are behind us during that stretch.  We are really starting to gel.

On to what I miss. Defense. Not that 4th or 5th in the league crap we're playing now. That smothering, annoying, hard-nosed D that other teams hate. Our signature. Remember when we would force 2-4 24 second violation turnovers a game? Teams would regularly shoot ~42% against us? Opponents would more than occasionally score only in the 70's?  People would scream and holler that The Spurs were dirty? That Bowen was the dirtiest player in the game (wrong they were)? God I miss those days. That's how I define defense. Being considered the dirtiest, most boring team on the planet. I miss that.

Life as a Spur fan for me has changed. I have to rely on our clutchness (I am convinced Pop forces situations on the team to work on this). Worse yet, I have to rely on our scoring. I think The Spurs are 30-0 when scoring 100 or more. Ugh. Makes me sick. That's the Suns/Lakers/Mavs mojo. I hate it. We used to only need high eighties to win regularly.

Don't get me wrong. I love where we are. I just wish we got here in a different way. Things change. Maybe I should.

On a different note- I apologize for any mojo infractions I made during the game last night. I flogged myself properly and will make no such mistake again.

Did I mention I hate Chris Paul?
