Monroe: Bonner Suffers Broken Hand
Spurs center-forward Matt Bonner suffered a broken bone on his right hand in the first quarter of Saturday's game against the Pacers at AT&T Center.
It appeared he broke the fourth metacarpal -- the bone in the meat of the hand leading to the ring finger -- while attempting to block a shot by Indiana's Tyler Hansbrough late in the first quarter. He remained in the game after the injury, and actually made an 18-foot jumper after suffering the injury.
Bonner is to be re-examined on Monday, after which a timetable for his return will be determined.

Does Fred have telekinetic abilities? If so, he should have been more worried about making Tony’s shots go in.
The Spurs - now playing like sh*t again!
well, I guess this means more time for sandwiches
If you liked it then you should have put a 5th ring on it. Oh oh oh.

Although he’ll have a tougher time blogging about them now.

I think the team’s going to miss Matt – but don’t tell Fred I said that.

That sounds like a nasty break. While a broken finger can be immobilized , dunno what they can do about a fractured hand. Red is gonna be out a long time…
...Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is forty five.
It happened to me once, practicing aikido. They put a cast around the entire hand, and part of the arm, and we waited a month.

Youch. Our three point shooting just took a significant hit for the next month or so….
On the bright side, maybe Blair is gonna see big minutes. Though not really holding my breath for Haislip to pan out …

There’s also a week or two after they remove your cast that you feel rather weak.

I’m sure it has been mentioned in the game threads, but I haven’t read them (it?) yet. So here’s from a certain site, before the Pacers game:
With Granger out, it makes us really glad that Finley is the only injured Spurs at the moment. ::knocks on wood::
Advantage: Spurs

I broke my hand in the middle of a game while playing basketball for my high school team. I ran down the court afterwards, but couldn’t even receive a pass. I can’t imagine catching a ball, must less actually making a basket with that injury. Say what you want about BonBon, but he showed some toughness staying in the game after breaking his shooting hand.
