None of the contenders wanted him after the way he behaved last season.

True. But I figured he would try to prove himself or something. I guess he has too much of an ego.

I mean what does he really plan to do now? He’s obviously not coach or broadcasting material.

Trainer who heads practice.

That’s just sad, really. A.I. is a very unique player and he’s entertaining, but it’s a pity he couldn’t overcome his ego.

I also think it’s pretty sad. He deserved better, even if he didn’t think so.

At least it can be said that he goes into retirement with all the class and grace he displayed throughout his playing career.

+1
So Lakers fans still aren’t done giving him crap about the step over Lue?
FYI, I was a small time Blazers fan then, so I still hated the Lakers around that time.

Can only speak for me. I forgot about that. Didn’t care then or now.
I just think he is an extremely self-centered, a-hole athlete who was spoiled because he had some skills (far from the only one of course). Makes me smile no teams want to put up with his crap. Even Shaq has the humility to talk about teaching Amare or defer to LeBron or Nash if only when the cameras are rolling.
Bottom line to me he’s an arrogant jerk and deserves what he’s getting.

Hey this guy was a top 5 guy for a while, and he carried a shitty team into the finals, give him some credit, he was a great player.
AKA: Linix129
I agree that he was a great player and carrying Philly on his back was quite an accomplishment.
But to me that just makes it more sad that “he’s an arrogant jerk and deserves what he’s getting.” He was all about him (but like I said, he ain’t the only one).

Hey, but enough about Kobe, har har har.
I do agree with you though, as much as it sickens me.

I think it is OK to agree just this once since it is a holiday.
Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask you. Are there Argentinian restaurants in So Cal? (Preferably in Orange County.) I had Peruvian food for lunch Wednesday which made me think of it. And know several Brazilian places but I’ve never heard of a place serving Argentinian food (not baked goods but food).
And how would you describe Argentinian food? I readily admit to being mainly ignorant of South American cultures but I believe that Argentina has Spanish & Italian influences? (like Brazil has Portuguese and African influences?)
The Lakers "Too big, too strong, too long, too good."
I don’t know Argentinian places in Orange County, I know two or three around here in the valley. Yes, Argentina, unlike most other other Latin American countries, is mostly European in origin, which is why we think we’re the shit.
But if you were to describe Argentine cuisine, it’s meat. We effing love meat. We love bbq (asado) we love milanesas,we love meat empanadas etc. So if you went to an Argentinian place, be sure to try empanadas or BBQ. Also, you should try dulce de leche, though you can get that in some grocery stores.
For the ultimate authentic experience, you should go into the restaurant with a lot of money and prospects for an awesome meal, and then proceed to lose most of your money through corruption, mismanagement, and coups d’etat.
Maybe some Argentine Lakers fan (just threw up a little) can tell you of a place in Orange County? It’s not that they’re hard to find. It’s that it’s hard to find one that has both good food and is not pricey as hell.

Maybe some Argentine Lakers fan . . .
I don’t know any really. But I figure those who don’t follow their national basketball icon on the Spurs are probably Scola lovers.
One more question for you if you don’t mind. Is there a particular area in So Cal with an enclave of people from Argentina more than others? I’m really just curious, not looking to make a smartass comment.
The Lakers "Too big, too strong, too long, too good."
I really don’t know that one. I think we’re scattered all over the place. The thing is, LA doesn’t really have that many Argentines. The city of choice used to be Chicago, and now it’s Miami. There’s a place in Miami that’s even called Little Buenos Aires.
I remember in high school when some new Argentine enrolled, they would be like, hey dude, there’s another Argentine, you should meet him/her! Like I was supposed to be friends with them because we happened to be born within the same borders.
Fuck that, I like white people.

Yeah, Miami makes sense. It is much more tied to Central & South America than L A. I used to fly to Miami all the time and there were always tons of flights leaving for all over the south. (OK, maybe the L A flights and the South American flights were just always in the same concourse.)

You used to fly to Miami all the time and you used to work with awesome airplane companies, what has happened to you?

Yeah, I’ve reduced my carbon footprint. The travel is fun but it takes a toll once you have kids and you both work, etc.
Besides Lockheed relocated to Georgia (I think) and I could have moved to So Fla but the summers & hurricanes are too much for me. (OK that and my wife said no way.) Besides, I grew up out here so I don’t know any better anyway.

Good call. Take it from someone who lived there for 15 years…. Florida sucks.
The Spurs - now playing defense again!
Man, Fla to Phoenix. No wonder you want to go to Portland – just to cool off for once.
Florida was fun to visit but it would be hard to live there. What part of Florida did you live in?
The Lakers "Too big, too strong, too long, too good."
Tampa.
And I didn’t come directly here. I lived in Sacramento for about a year, which completely spoiled me.
The Spurs - now playing defense again!
Hmm. I got a cousin that lives just outside Sacramento. She paddles the rivers & hikes all over and loves it up there. Plus you’re just a couple of hours away from Frisco or the Sierras.
I was planning to go up for a weekend this summer but I couldn’t make it. I was going to do the lazyman’s rafting thing where you just rent a raft, drop a cooler in it and float down the river – and get in water fights with the other rafts.
The Lakers "Too big, too strong, too long, too good."
You should do that in Kern River. Well, not when the river is high, I almost drowned once during that time. But during the summer.

I almost drowned once during that time.
Whoa, that’s too much adventure for me. This is on a real quiet stretch of the Lower American River (supposedly suitable for novices without a guide).
I figured I’d flop into the raft and let my kids do most of the paddling. And if we like that, I was going to check out the rafting out of Yosemite or up by Lake Tahoe. (Damn, I’m thinking about summer vacation already and it is only November.)

We’re not all brown, you know. In fact, the bastards most likely to emigrate are probably milky white.

White means Americans, like a Russian is technically a white person, but not a white person. So that makes it slightly less racist.

It makes me sad to see Iverson’s career end this way. I remember sitting on the camera platform (the housie used to work camera for the then-Charlotte Hornets) and watching Iverson (still with Philly) score 50 one night. He was electrifying. I’d say a good 50% of the crowd in Charlotte was there to watch AI. His jersey was everywhere.
But our loss is Tanzania’s gain.
