Howdy, (Yes, howdy, this is still Texas)
It's been awhile since I posted something, mainly because all that I've been spewing lately is negativity. Unfortunately, I am unable to find much positivitae to change that feeling. One player that has to be feeling the same way is Richard Jefferson. As he slowly transforms into a Spur his struggles to fight it are hurting our team. As all know, Jefferson is not the player that will be relied upon for points on a nightly basis, contrary to his prior teams' roles. However, he is still expected to show that same ability at certain times in the game. His flash and scoring ability are needed when called upon, not to rely on. This is the classic Spurs transformation that must happen and what is giving us a slow start.
You can already tell his game is changing into a Spurs mold, his FG % is higher than his career average, a result of good shot selection, his points are down, and his minutes are down. (Just to emphasize my point, his FT% is terrible too) What we need out of him is a scorer at times and a defender always. The defence being the biggest need right now.
I've given my ideas on the situation, now I wanna know what you think. Are we using RJ correctly? Should we give him the ball more, turn him into a pure defender, or as I think should he be the hammer in waiting?
