Grim article about Ginobili (plus Manu's reaction on FB)
Manu posted about this article on Facebook: "Hard article 2 read, hope things change soon! // Nota dura de leer para mi. Espero que la mala racha cambie pronto."

Yeah, I read it and got really steamed. Manu usually doesn’t read what is said in the press. I’m very concerned about his mood right now. Hope the article makes him want to show his determination to prove Blinebury wrong. And for God’s sake, it’s a groin strain, probably related to the hamstring problem, and not anything really serious. Give the guy a break, Blinebury! Did I miss Blinebury’s article about Pau Gasol being “washed up” because it took him a month to get over a hamstring pull?

You betcha!
Two glasses of wine (Argentine, by the way) and I have sent Blinebury an e-mail. I was polite, as befits a teacher, but firm, as also befits a teacher when she’s not happy!
and recced, btw.

Got a reply from Blinebury to my e-mail
He sarcastically said, among other things, “sorry for the reality check.” We all, including Manu, faced that reality check last year. I’m not going to reply to him, just let it die. The guy’s a jerk, an insensitive jerk.
Unfortunately, most sports “journalists” these days get by on sarcasm and wisecracks. (And yes, I realize the irony of this coming from me.) For some reason, they become so jaded that they can’t see the players as human beings, which is also an issue for us fans, me included. I’m glad you sent him an e-mail, though. Keep up the fight.

I thought the article was fair and the last thing I want is for Manu to be “more determined”. Hamstring and groin pulls are notoriously subject to re-injury. If anything, Manu needs to stay out longer than prescribed and come back very slowly. He also needs to learn how to coast during games like Kobe, Jordan and other stars. Of course then he wouldn’t be Manu.
His prior injuries were from overuse, so Pop commanded total rest over the summer. IMHO this contributed to his current soft tissue injuries which can result from a rapid increase in activity after a long period of underuse. I’m sure the staff took steps to avoid this, but each body is different.
I also wonder if the hamstring problem came from slipping on the AT&T Center’s slick floor a couple weeks ago. It’s criminally stupid.to put Ice underneath a wood floor in a humid climate.

Right on. I do hope they allow him to heal properly. maybe some alfajores will do him good

The arena crew was still working on that slick floor a little during the Jazz game.
By “determined” I mean I want Manu to rid his mind of the self-doubt I see creeping in for the first time. I want to see the kind of determination I saw when he worked so hard to recover from his surgery last year. And as for the Spurs medical and training staff…I’ve had doubts for a long while.
You know, I’ve been thinking about the slick floor since the Utah game.
If I recall correctly, it was pretty humid that night and I noticed the AT&T center wasn’t as cold as usual during the first half of the game. Do you think the hockey ice rink (below the Spurs court) could have caused some condensation issues?
On the other… can we trade for the Phoenix training staff?
