Look, PETA does some good things in this world. I won’t deny that. But they also have a tendency to do stupid things every once in a while, and this is pretty outlandish. Especially when they compare Manu to Michael Vick, of all things.

Why? My only contacts with PETA through my life have been:
- A Penn and Teller episode where they absolutely destroyed it.
- Their statement regarding the fly Obama killed.
- This stupid post.
It’s not my fault they do stupid things.

I hadn’t read your reply to Tim, Lauri. I thought you were against PETA-bashing.

My favorite part of it:
We hope that the next time someone’s life is on the line, Manu Ginobili will take just a few seconds to think before he acts.
Clearly, PETA knows it was a vampire and are still unhappy about Manu’s service to humanity.
Its evident that PETA is in reality a league of blood sucking vampires who were none too pleased that Manu went all “Blade” on that punk-ass vampire bat.

Seriously get them out of the country, they’re pretty much useless. They have no power and spend their days writing angry letters to people who accidentally hit deer on the highway.

Yea, not a PETA fan here. And usually, I just brush them to the side…but not when they bring Manu into it! And how did the bat get into the center? Was it brought in by a fan? Or did it just happen to coincidentally fly in through a door? I mean, if it was brought in by a fan with the intention of letting it go and interrupt the game (as it did), what does that say about fans who bring bats into the AT&T Center? I don’t think PETA thinks these things through all the way, sometimes.
it’s too much of a coincidence to not have been brought in by a fan
the att center knew it was a weird night too because it was the first time I’ve seen every attendee get metal detected before the game
There have been bats in the AT&T Center before. I remember one flying around last year, but not actually on the court and getting in the middle of the game.
Wow, so there must be a bat cave somewhere underneath the AT&T center.

My housemate, who has been working the Spurs home games since 2001, says there are bats in the AT&T Center 3 or 4 times a year. It’s not uncommon.
WWTD?
You mean the 3-4 bats that escape from Manu’s underground bat fighting rings below the AT&T Center?

Trust me, no one brought the bat inside the venue. There’s a famous bat cave about 20 miles outside of San Antonio. These bats regularly hang out in Austin, San Antonio and the surrounding areas. The bats get into all sorts of venues, churches, office buildings, etc. It’s supposed to be the largest Mexican free-tailed bat colony in the world. It’s the Bracken Bat Cave and here’s some info and video…

Wow, so this means on Halloween day, when the mascot was wearing a Batman costume, when the Spurs were playing, a bat suddenly shows itself in the AT&T center to stop play. Wow.

Halloween makes it suspect, but regarding the outfit, people say the Coyote always has that one handy for Halloween.

PETA is against the no kill movement and euthanizes most of the animals surrendered to them.56 In 2005, PETA euthanized 1,946 companion animals in Virginia, out of 2,138 animals (or 91%) surrendered to them or picked up as strays.57
The hypocrisy is staggering. They’re also against all forms of animal ownership, ALL FORMS, that includes fish. They will take my fish from cold, dead, slippery from the slime membrane fish have, hands.
If you haven't lived with a squirrel, you haven't lived. - Bob Ross
Exactly what the P&T guys exposed. Not to mention one of the leaders had saved his (her? can’t remember) life by using medication that had been discovered via animal research…
Oh, and I just read a post on their blog where they sided with Glenn Beck against Al Gore because: a) Gore hadn’t denounced the meat industry as the real cause of global warming; b) Gore wasn’t a vegan. And they didn’t even noticed that Beck was mocking them.
Sorry, Lauri, but they look like professional idiots to me.

That’s how I read that “Oh yay”. Sorry, Lauri.

Dunkin' Cheerleaders
No, “oh yay” was just a sarcastic way to express just how much I was looking forward to days of PETA-bashing. That isn’t the same thing as supporting PETA. I figured people would know the difference, but I suppose I should have spelled it out.
Hurry, Thursday.
WWTD?
I guess I was too offensive with my "Sorry"s, and my misinterpretation of your meaning.

Well normally when you sarcastically denounce something, one basically assumes you support the opposite :P
Not really. I couldn’t stand W., either, but I got really sick of hearing people say the same old shit about him, too.
But, fine, eff it, I give up, I am totally on board with PETA, that was my agenda all along, it wasn’t at all about hating a mob mentality or finding the whole “PETA is a bunch of douchebags!” line of commentary played out and noisome. Y’all got me dead to rights, and you were correct after all this time not to give me the benefit of the doubt.
WWTD?
You’re paranoid. The only one that replied to you as if you were supporting PETA was me, and when I read your clarification I apologized. LionZion just explained why I made that mistake.
I honestly don’t know why you’re so touchy about this. “Mob mentality” doesn’t cut it when I’m reacting to someone I respect being trashed by idiots, and I seriously don’t understand where the “Dude” and the surprise at my misunderstanding came from.
Whatever. Hurry, Thursday.

Well, that was depressing.
My apologies for being snappish, David. (And LionZion, though really I didn’t mean to direct anything toward you.) I got too wrapped up in my own opinion and wanting it to be understood, when it’s really just a secondary thing, unimportant compared with being kind to people I like.
WWTD?

Lol Lauri. No need for apologies. Obviously you got a lot more going on in your head about this whole PETA thing than some of us who have barely heard about them. And hey, you always get the benefit of the doubt in my book. Goes for almost all the ppl on here.
Except Bonner supporters!! :P
Those freaking Bonner supporters need to read the position paper written by PETS (People for the Ethical Treatment of Sandwiches) who have completely blown the lid off of his Quest for the Hoagie Grail.
They’ve exposed him for what he truly is: a man who feels that his need for energy to play basketball is more important than the continued existence of our breaded friends.

It was my fault, Lauri, as I told you. I’m a thin-skinned, Fangio-loving Argentine. Let’s move on.

Seriously? I thought Manu said he was told he had killed the bat and had not “stunned it” like he believed. This had better not turn into “Bat-gate” or something.
As for PETA? Well, equating Manu’s actions to those of Michael Vick’s are laughable. Even MORE ridiculous, are their hopes that in the future Manu will “think before he acts” if and when “SOMEONE’S life is one the line”. No, not another flying mammal. A person. smh

Richard Oliver, sportswriter for the Express News, had the best comeback to PETA on Twitter – he said he was eating a steak for supper.
Well, I had a crab cake which means I’ll probably get a letter from Hipuks.

If you have a mosquito on you foot (or even worst: a cockroach …..according to PETA, what are you suposed to do?
Rehabilitation My Friend, Rehabilitation
With mosquitos and cockroaches, like bats, you’re supposed to catch them and begin a rehabilitation program, then reintroduce them into the wild. Que pendejos!
There was a roach in my room yesterday. I tried killing it with Lysol and a lighter. It didn’t work. I had to resort to using my shoes to crush it. Some of the scariest shit in my life. I am terrified of hate roaches.

What a crock of shit
Since when does Manu hate animals? And, regardless, the person who let the bat in should be beaten up, not Manu. (Last I checked, this is a first.)

I heard he started regularly going to the dog park off Wurzbach behind the airport. I used to take my dog there before she got too aggressive. It’s really nice except the somewhat long walk to the park from the parking lot. It’s not really long but when your dog sees all the other dogs, it can be torture for both of you. The park is usually pretty good about owners cleaning up after their dogs, but no one cleans up that walkway.
From the comments at PETA.org:
hes from argentina thats the kind of stuff they do

It’s true. Part of the reason I left Argentina was to escape the horrible Batocaust that is going in there.
