SPURS INJURY UPDATE

Manu Ginobili underwent an MRI examination this afternoon in San Antonio. The exam confirmed that he has a mild left groin strain and showed that he has no structural damage in the area. Ginobili will begin his rehabilitation process tomorrow. He is expected to miss seven-to-ten days.

Ginobili suffered the injury in the first quarter of last night’s Spurs-Mavericks game.

Straight from the Spurs.

So we should expect him back @ Houston, vs Philadelphia, or vs Boston I guess.

If we need him to beat Washington, Milwaukee, and Golden State, then we have bigger problems than I want to think about. Rest, Manu, rest!

BTW – my physical therapist, the best in Austin and the reason I walk at all today, said he would put money on it that it wasn’t originally a hamstring pull, but one of the other muscles in the back of the leg that is closer to the adductors (groin muscles). He was horrified at the sight of Manu sitting on the floor when he went out of the Mavs game trying to stretch a muscle that may have been strained – that’s the last thing that should be done under that circumstance. He did say he believes Manu should be back in a week and be fine because he will get daily treatments. Another bee in my bonnet, Wayne – I really will never trust an orthopedic doctor and a training staff that do not put a guy with a stress reaction in a “boot” for a few weeks so it doesn’t go to a stress fracture. Been there, done that.,

Janieannie you seem like just the right person for me to express my skeptimism to. In regards to Timmys knee, why the hell does he have a ACL brace on if it’s tendonitis that he’s suffering from? I am hardly quallified but usually when an athlete suffers from tendonitis they wear a sleave to keep the knee warm and such. The brace he wears is to protect the knee from a side impact collision and it does nothing for tendonitis. He has recently put a sleeve over the ACL brace but I still don’t get why he has the ACL brace on in the first place. The Spurs trainers are something else. Ask your physical therapist about this one too.

Timmy doesn’t have Tendonitis. He has Tendonosis. What’s the difference, you ask?

The Spurs - now playing defense again! ...but only against Dallas.

Good info Tim. I guess I can sorta see why he has that brace on then if his tendons are so weak that they’re afraid of an easy tear. Still though reading that makes me think a full summer of rest should be enough to heal. Poor Timmy.
