Spurs International Roundup

Twss_international_medium

Winners.  We drafted winners.  Lots of highlights this week and many feature Tiago's left hand.

Star-divide

Tiago Splitter

Caja Laboral

ACB (Spanish League): 5-1

EuroLeague: 2-1

Age: 24

Height: 7' 0"

Weight: 240

1st round, 28th pick, 2007

In EuroLeague play, Tiago lead a Caja Laboral 82-76 win over Union Olimpija.  He had 11 points and 7 rebounds in 30 minutes.  Fellow Brazilian Marcelinho Huertas had 21 points for the victors.  Amazingly, Huertas had 0 assists in the game.  At 2-1, Caja is a game behind Lottomatica Roma in Group C.

Highlights of the win over Union include some good touch by Tiago around the basket with his left hand.

In ACB play, Caja got an 86-79 home win over Gran Canaria.  Tiago had 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists as Caja remains one game out of first in the league.

There is a good highlight at about 1:30 where Tiago finishes with some skill around the basket.

Nando De Colo

Valencia

ACB (Spanish League): 5-1

EuroCup : 0-0

Age: 22

Height: 6' 5"

Weight: 185

2nd round, 53rd pick, 2009

EuroCup doesn't get underway for two more weeks so we'll only get one game a week from Nando for a bit.

This week Valencia improves to 5-1 wtih 82-67 win over Fuenla.  Nando again turned the ball over 5 times.  His 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists are nice though.  He seems to do a good job of stuffing the stat sheet.  Both good and bad stats.

Not many highlights of Nando, but Victor Claver throws down a pretty nasty dunk.

James Gist

????

Age: 23

Height: 6' 9"

Weight: 220

2nd round, 57th pick, 2008

James isn't in the D-League.  He's not anywhere I can find him.

Robertas Javtokas

BC Khimki

Russian League: 2-1

EuroLeague: 2-1

Age: 23

Height: 6' 2"

Weight: 185

2nd round, 56th pick, 2001

BC Khimki improved to 2-1 in EuroLeague play with a 77-72 win over EWE Baskets.  Robertas had 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Check out his Euro page by clicking on his name.  Get a load of the action photo.  The dude is ripped.

In Russian League play, Khimki also improved to 2-1 with a 83-71 win over Dynamo Moscow.  Robertas had 16 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes.  He also had a lot of other numbers, but...

Jack McClinton

Aliaga Petkim

Turkish League: 2-2

Age: 23

Height: 6' 2"

Weight: 185

2nd round, 51st pick, 2009

McClinton's Aliaga Petkim win 87-80 over Mersin BSB.  Jack contributed 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.  He was 7-16 from the field, 3-5 from 3-point, and 5-5 from the line.

Asvel Basket

Tony's Team

French League: 2-4

EuorLeague: 0-3

Asvel lost in EuroLeague again.  This time it was a 82-65 loss to Italian powerhouse Montepaschi Siena.  Asvel was led by Bobby Dixon's (who?) 22 points.  Ali Traore chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds.  Former Spurs draft pick, 52nd pick in 2004, Romain Sato led Siena with 33 points.

In French League play, Asvel dropped another one.  This time to Gravelines 71-64.  Gravelines was led by Ben Woodside's 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Bobby Dixon couldn't make a shot in this one going 0-8 from the field.  Traore had 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Eric Dawson

Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins

JBL (Japanese League): 1-10

Age: 24?

Height: 6' 9"

Weight: 235

Austin Toros 2007-2009

Back from injury, Mitsubishi keeps losing.  This time it was a 102-72 drubbing.  Eric had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in 27 minutes.

Is it time to put Gist on a milk carton?

I’m worried ’bout the boy.

Seriously! I thought that in these modern times it would be virtually impossible to disappear. Unless Manu just smacked you out of the air and delivered you to Mr. Knees

Maybe he quit basketball, and decided to pursue other things?

The Spurs - not playing defense anymore, since 2008.

Javtokas???

Isn’t he older, taller and heavier than he is listed above?

Yeah, those are the same numbers as for McClinton.

The Spurs - not playing defense anymore, since 2008.

Man, crap. Cut and paste error. Thanks for pointing that out.

Javtokas is 29. 6’ 10" and I made up 240.

We specialize in misinformation around here. Facts and stats just get in the way.
