Halftime Fish
This post isn’t actually about a single animal, but a pair of them. It’s about the Goby- Burrowin Shrimp symbiosis. I’m not talking about a species in particular, but rather a number of Gobies and shrimp, so I’ll keep the information generalized.
If I were to have a small saltwater tank, I would definitely have this pair. While the shrimp fastidiously burrows and maintains the cave, the Goby keeps watch on the outside. This is because the shrimp has terrible eyesight, so it feels the body of the the Goby with its antenna and when the Goby moves its tail the shrimp knows there’s danger and they both quickly retreat into the cave. The shrimp is almost always in contact with the Goby.
The shrimp are very good at making their caves, using whatever scraps they can find around. Live sand is very good for this, as it has shells, detritus, and bits and pieces the shrimp can use to reinforce the cave walls. It’s not just a matter of burrowing the cave, if not maintained all day long, the cave would quickly collapse. At night, both the shrimp and Goby go inside and the cove the cave entrance to be safe for the night. God knows what goes on in there.
The Goby, on its part, keeps watch at the entrance of the cave at all times, and also searches for food around the cave, bringing the shrimp food as the shrimp rarely if ever leaves the cave.
Although this relationship is extremely beneficial to both the Goby and the shrimp, note that these species can also survive by themselves. But most fishkeepers try to keep them together. I’ve read stories of people who have amazing tanks with wild and exotic species, yet they spend most of the time watching the Goby and the shrimp live in their little cave.

Sweet. So the plural for shrimp is still shrimp?

Hi everyone!
Another Spurs fan here. This is actually my first post though I’ve been a regular visitor to the site during the pre-season. Ever since the team reloaded, I’ve been a glutton for anything and everything San Antonio Spurs. Awesome posts btw! Even the non-Spurs stuff were entertaining. I’ve been on a daily PtR fix ever since.
I’m looking forward to a great season. Go Spurs Go!

32Mem, the way we work it around here is this: as long as the game’s in doubt, we don’t say that we’ve lost and we don’t say that we’ve won. While there’s a chance we could pull it out, we hope. While there’s a chance we could still drop it, we wait.
We watch the game in order to cheer for a win – not to revel in our anger at a loss that hasn’t occurred yet.
No celebrating before it’s too soon keeps us humble. No despair before the final buzzer keeps us from flip-flopping during an eventual win.
Hopefully, you can find that you feel the same.

Never fear SPURS faithful and newly acquired former rockets fans, it’s a good thing. We relied on pure talent and adrenaline in Game 1 and got baited into believing the resounding win meant something (against a washed up, going nowhere team). Tonight will just wake us up, teach us that hustle and body-ing up are required, and hone our focus. These losses build champions.
Plus, it’s only the second game, so settle the hell down.

I know you haven’t been here in a while Sima, but it’s
CALM THE FUCK DOWN – Timmy D to C3Poop.

One of my all-time favorite SPURS moments actually. Vintage Timmeh.

I don’t even think we should capitalize it. It’s like he had such apathetic disdain for CFlop’s attitude and behavior; like he wasn’t surprised at all, just calm and above it all. Like how you’d talk to someone whom you felt nothing but sorry and shame for. “Hey, little man, just calm the fuck down.”
Timmy’s great because he knows deep down, that type of response, in which you deny another person the opportunity to affect you or control your behavior, is soooooo much more devastating psychologically. Especially since Timmy’s always been his “hero.” It’s the kind of reaction that could cause suicide from Paul. Straight to the heart and soul.
God I love Tim Duncan.

Verdict:
Losing by 7 on the road to a young playoff team playing their home opener in a SEGABABA, not playing well but keeping it under 90? Not bad stuff. I could almost see the surpressed look of glee on Pop’s face as he contemplated all the film that he could show and all the ass that he can chew… This will be just one more swing of the hammer, comrades.
Awesome. And the font works too.

Just keeping it real, . . .
but the final score is deceptive. The final score does not reflect how badly we played.
I haven’t read many of the previous posts, but….
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE BACK TO BACKS AND I HATE WHEN WE CAN’T MAKE OUR THREES AND I HATE WHEN DUNCAN HAS TO PLAY AWESOME IN LOTS OF MINUTES AND EVERYONE ELSE LETS HIM DOWN!
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, but my girlfriend said I couldn’t scream out loud because it was upsetting the dogs…I’m better now. So I’m adding Chicago to the list with Portland, OKC, and Orlando as uppity young bastard teams I don’t like the Spurs to fucking play….ever. At least I recorded The Office and 30 Rock to cheer me up and thinking about the Kings home game next is a morale booster.
Wow, you’re mad. Dwight Schrute will meet you now.
