True Hoop says:
The Warriors would like Manu Ginobili from the Spurs, but I can't see the Spurs parting with Manu.

No kidding there. You know who would work though? Mason and Bonner. That's who. However, in this market to take on that much contract for two expirings, the Warriors probably have to throw in a pick for me to do it.

The Warriors would like Manu Ginobili from the Spurs

And I’d like a couple million dollars, my own private island, and the secret to immortality….

…but it ain’t gonna happen.

Buzz off, Warriors.

We should throw Timmy in there too, to make it more appealing for them.

Wow

The Manu talk is just crazy. I’m not sure if the Spurs have enough playing time for Jackson, unless Finley was sent to ride the pine. It would make us a ridiculously good offensive team, but I’m not sure it’d really be a huge upgrade over what we’ve got now.

No way we’d ever part with Manu for SJ straight up. I love SJ, but he’s been a headache ever he’s been. I could just imagine him arriving back in SA and whining about his playing time or coming off the bench.

I will say this though: The JV is available. For the mere price of Stephen Jackson and several million dollars (to help cover Steve’s cost), we would gladly give them Jacque Vaughn.

I’m with you ATS, if we trade anyone, It’d be Bonner, Finley, or Mason, but for now, I’d just wait. No need to do something in a hurry, specially when we don’t know know how good our team is yet. So I don’t think they’ll do it. The Warriors seem to be a little hasty with this, and our front office has never shown such a quality.

well, if the Spurs ARE interested, and the Warriors ARE in a hasty mood, then now would be the time to Pau Gasol them.

true, but I feel that the Spurs will not be giving them Manu, and that the warriors won’t want just Mason and Bonner (not even including the first rounder you want).

Mason and Bonner are expiring contracts. Look what we gave up for Jefferson. And he was happy.

I like Jackson…a lot. He doesn’t back down from a challenge and has a chip on his shoulder, two undefiniable characteristics that I think can make a good player great. But the idea of trading him for Manu is just insano…unless someone on the Spurs thinks/knows Manu will never return to form. I say, let’s see how we play with what we have so far. I’m excited about tonight.

by JustinBK on Oct 28, 2009 5:04 PM CDT reply actions

Here is why I’m not buying it…. Because we heard about it. We never here rumors about trades that the Spurs actually make. That’s because if the Spurs are serious, they make it clear that word is not getting out. My money is on GS wanting Manu and spreading the rumor.

how bout manu, blair, cubits, pop and eva longoria plus cash for andre biedrins?

by GodsLoveSpursGlory on Oct 28, 2009 5:43 PM CDT reply actions

A selfless player how instinctively knows how to win, a player who comes off the bench when he would start in any other team and doesn’t have a problem with it, a player who is the X factor of our team and who takes us from good to great, for a player who accepted a big ass contract and now wants out because he changed his mind, but of course, still wants to get paid.
Pretty tough decision, I’m glad I don’t have to make it.

OK OK! Do we really need to talk about why we don’t wanna trade Manu, Again?!

Manu ain’t going nowhere! We’ll give them the old tires that Timmie used to practice with (untouched this summer), plus a draft pick, and if they don’t want it then tough.

In another happy news, Spurs.com said something about picking up Cubit’s option? anyone cares to scream with me of joy about it? I know it’s a Duh! but Damn it I feel good :)

by SaSleepless on Oct 28, 2009 6:13 PM CDT reply actions

Sending Manu to GS is probably the cruelest thing the front office could do.

I wouldn’t give up Mason and Bonner for him. Maybe Fin and Matt, but that’s it.

The ridiculousness of this proposal stops me from dignifying it with a response. Lets wait till the february deadline, when GS will gladly take Ratliff and a case of youngevity for Jackson.
