Simmons picks the Spurs to win it
I think he may have jinxed our Spurs, but I have the same feeling about this team.

Great read! That Simmons is a smart guy. ;) And, well, if there are any guys left standing in the league that know how to assemble a great roster, it’s our FO. Convincingly.

Dear FSM,
Please let Bill Simmons be right.
Now excuse me while I take a long, scalding hot shower.

I’m torn. Usually I find Bill Simmons to be full of BS, but I so want him to be right just this once.

Wow. Have I ever mentioned how much I appreciate Simmons’ honest and thoughtful writing?

How can we stay under the radar and creep upon unsuspecting victims if we keep getting all this hype?
I’d prefer the media underrate the Spurs & keep our underdog role.
This has gotta stop.

Id say the Spurs are still less favored than the popular pics like L.A., Boston, Cleve and Orlando. Some guy from SI picked LA and Boston in the finals.
But before that I saw a poll on ESPN’s front page asking who the team to beat is. San Antonio wasnt even one of the selections.

That’s more to my liking. Let them under-estimate us

With this much talent and assumed health, I don’t think it matters. Plus BS is not as much of a media guy as the rest of those schmucks at BSPN. I feel like he tries to think like a fan.

Nice read, but I must take exception to the notion that TD has never been on a dominant team. The ‘99 Spurs team won twelve straight playoff games, an NBA record. That’s pretty dominant, and I would take that team against the other “kick-ass” teams that Simmons mentioned.

C’mon, 4Him, you know as well as the rest of us that the astrisked season never happened.

My bad. I guess I wanted the Spurs to win so bad that I dreamed they had won the championship in a dominant fashion. I guess that Phil Jackson was right about the “simulator crew” coaching staff as well.

Thanks for seeing the light. I’m sure that olf (wherever he’s got to) would appreciate it.

Damn. My legs are shaking. This is too much Spurs love from ESPN, much, much more than what I am used to.

Silver, I hear you. But the vast majority of the ESPN writing staff still favor other teams to win the chip. If you go there right now, there is a poll on the front page asking “Who is the team to beat”…….San Antonio isn’t even listed.
