yeah, Pop does that. He doesn’t like players (specially young ones) to get too hyped up and have their heads too big. He knows that this match-up will have high expectations from Spurs fans too, so I don’t think he’ll play Blair much. Pop can be so withholding sometimes.
Even if Blair gets some minutes during the season, I’m sure Pop will be reluctant to play him in the post-season.

Pop has to play him 20mins a game. Blair should be given the chance to win ROY.
I’m too lazy to google it, so who knows who the lowest picked ROY was? Was there ever an undrafted ROY?

Okay, so it wouldn’t be Blair.

Damn it. Now I feel challenged to look it up.

I f*cking checked them manually. Only two ROYs played less than 30mpg during their rookie year: Mike Miller (29.1 mpg, 62/82 gs/gp) and Tom Heinsohn (29.9, 0/72).
This means: 1. Blair will have to play 29mpg, or perhaps, at least in the high twenties to be considered; 2. Even if he always comes off the bench, he can still win ROY.
Fact: Pop only played a rookie 29 minutes or more per game two times. First, in 97-98, when Duncan started and played all games at 39.1mpg, then in 01-02, when Parker logged 29.4mpg en route to 72 starts in 77 games played.
In his rookie season, Manu played 20.7mpg (27.5 POs), and started 5 games of 69 played. He was named to the All Rookie Second Team. Amare got ROY that year.
PS: If anyone thinks my research is inaccurate, F*CK OFF.

So, basically, Blake Griffin just dodged a bullet.
I’m reccing your effort on this one. Thanks a lot.
Yup, he’ll most likely get it, barring injuries or super duper rookie seasons from anyone else.

I wonder how much Blair would average this season if the Clippers selected him with the first pick.

5 points, 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. The Clippers are cursed… poor Griffin.

the sad thing is that he’ll probably stay in clipperland too. He’s too competitive and doesn’t quit.

Like so many greats who completely quit in clipperland, he will too. I just hope he gets out before it’s too late.

Do you think it would be a good test for Ian? Since he’s really a rookie and hasn’t played in like 4ever. I wanna see him and Blake matching up. At what round was Ian picked?
Blake is really good at drawing fouls, Ian is really good at providing the pencil and paper. It might be a good test, but not one that I think Ian will pass.

I heard Tony talking about looking forward to watching Blair against Blake. So pop might allow this to happen after all?
Since Tony is looking forward to “the blair show” tomorrow, there might be an even less chance that Pop plays Blair, since he’s never really liked Parker to begin with.
