A great start to our big man rotation
So it appears that our young blood on the front line (Mahinmi) is going to miss all of training camp with a sprained ankle. This bodes well for his development and what he will be able to bring to the floor this season. Pop said he was planning on playing him 35 minutes a game during the preseason, so now that's out the window. Who knows how much he'll be able to contribute and play this season because of this. I don't know, maybe a miracle will happen, and one of the other "young bloods" will show some promise. And it will most likely be Curious George - all signs point to him; big bright neon yellow signs.

I'm so glad...
that my nickname stuck for CG… I’m trying to start a new one for Salim Stoudamire. I’ve been calling him Luftwaffe, because his initials are “SS”, and because it’s more tasteful than calling him “Nazi” or “Adolf” or something off color like those two…
Off the record, seeing as how Holocaust technically means “consumed by fire”, what happens if he makes a bunch of threes and becomes “on fire”?

Luftwaffe is particularly apropos, considering that “aerial bombardment” is what he brings to the table as a three point marksman. However, a genocidal regime based nickname is always a little dicey. Also it implies German heritage. Maybe that should be our new name for Dirk Nowitzki.

well then...
Luftwaffe would work, because you could always just tell an offended bystander that the name was taken from the name of the automotive garage in “The Darjeeling Limited”…
Tact, my friends. I haz it!

I just can’t say it enough, I’m so glad we sent Gist overseas. His passion and athletic play and stature wouldn’t have helped us at all with this new development. Here’s hope that Bonner now gets the chance to emerge as the next big thing in the NBA.
(Sorry, I’m consumed with a mixture of frustration and sarcasm today.)
PS- Scraps, your thinking makes me smile.
Are there days where you are not consumed with frustration and sarcasm?

No, and your question pisses me off.

I have a horrible feeling about this season...
Between the advancing age, curious draft choices, manus ankle, and sub par free agency, Im not terribly optimistic.
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
i don’t quite share the “horrible” feelings as both of you, but i do have plenty of skepticism. the first two months will be a very interesting time to watch. what will we be able to do without MANU for the time he is out? if we lose a bunch of ground in the standings early on, it will be quite the dogfight to get back up when he returns.
its not like he’s going to be out the whole season or anything folks!!! surely, we are not reading pop’s 35 minutes a game quote as serious…..right?
does anyone have a picture of this ankle??? i am beginning to rely on PtR for injured ankle pictures………
and where are the super-positive comments about michael finley’s new physique (also mentioned in the article)?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
just 35 minutes a game during the preseason. that’s a lot of good playing time that he’ll miss out on. it’s just saying that he probably won’t contribute as much to the team for the whole season because of this. they can’t afford to play him a bunch of minutes during the RS to see how he’ll impact the game for us.
as far as finley goes…i’m sure now that he’s 15 lbs lighter his shooting stroke will improve by 15-20 percentage points. that should make up for a bunch of MANU’s lost production.
