Ginobili has successful surgery

Sounds like the first step is done. However, I have not seen any consistent reporting on how long it will take Manu to recover. Personally, I hope he is back sometime around the end of November/early December - enough time to rest, but with only about 10 games or so missed.
On an unrelated note... Chalmers and Arthur caught with marijuana at rookie... camp: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3567481... makes curious George look a little bit better (at least from the Spurs perspective).

Maybe the Spurs’ braintrust picked up on some “character issues” when they evaluated those Chalmers and Arthur. I don’t have anything against marijuana, personally I think it should be legalized (and I’m sure metalandganja would agree with me), BUT if I were paid several million dollars to play basketball, with the only stipulations being that I 1) had to stay in shape, practice hard, and show up where and when I was supposed to, and 2) don’t do illegal drugs, I think I would have the self-control to abide by that.
It’s especially humorous and ironic that they were caught with “ladies of the night” and weed while attending a mandatory rookie event THAT IS DESIGNED TO HELP WITH THE TRANSITION TO THE NBA. Maybe Wilt, before he passed on, helped design the curriculum. It sounds like they are quick studies, already partying like seasoned vets!

I agree...
…there had to be some character concerns with those two, but that still doesn’t explain the Spurs passing on Donte Greene, CDR or JR Giddens.

I strangely immediately started to wonder if Stern has a “New Ref Orientation” too and what that’s like. Maybe there’s something out there to ‘ease the transition into the NBA’ for officials as well? What could go on at THOSE functions??

That NRO probably takes place at the Stern mansion where the rooks take turns washing his car and shining his shoes.
