Manu Will Return Stronger

I am shocked that there is no dialogue on Manu’s injury; this is huge for the Spurs. With such a poor off-season by the FO there is no room for let down w/ the big 3; this signals that Manu will not have the time to heal his ankle before pre-season (or, more likely, the start of the season). Thoughts: hold on to him? Trade him? Season ending/career limiting? Definitely a real problem in an off-season w/ absolutely nothing to feel good about.

it is amazing
the blazers have been informed everystepp of the way for broys surgery. I kant believe that a front office like the spurs would have nothing to offer in the way of info about whats going on, not even speculation. that doesnt make any sense

Well, he was technically already hurt, so it’s not really news.

no way we would trade him. that is considered heresy in the church of the san antonio spurs.
he needs time to heal, there is no reason to risk re-injuring his ankle in the preseason, or even the beginning of the reg. season. playoffs is where we need him healthy and ready to take over. i hope Pop limits his minutes during the RS so he is super fresh in the playoffs.

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.

As deep and strong as the West has gotten, and with our offseason productivity thrown in, we don’t exactly have the luxury anymore of limiting minutes of our Big 3. I would also LOVE to see a fresh and completely healthy Manu in the playoffs; but I would love slightly more not missing the playoffs by a nose

Agreed
If we take this to a logical conclusion, then the argument would be that it’d be preferable for us to enter the playoffs with a healthy Manu, even if we had to be on the road in the first series, instead of going in as an upper seed and having a worn-out/less than healthy Manu.
But isn’t that what Pop was trying to do at the end of last season? If I remember correctly, on PtR there was a good amount of talk about whether the Spurs were playing well enough going into the playoffs.
Best laid plans…

ummm… i remember a couple of people (myself included) who said we may want to just scrap HCA and go for health going into the playoffs. If the western field hadn’t been so close, and if the Spurs hadn’t had any chance at getting the #1 spot, then it might have been more reasonable to do so. All the same, I still think Pop should have rested Manu for at least two complete weeks before last year’s playoffs. Giving Tony and Tim a week off each (not necessarily concurrently) would have been ok too.
anyway… perfection in hindsight and other bs, blah, blah, ect., ect.

rick2g, it’s interesting how often people tend to remember only those who disagree with them, and sometimes ignore/take for granted those who agree
in April, my first fanpost ever, was a rant about how little the end of the regular season meant, which I posted because there seemed to be so many worrywarts predicting an early playoff exit — guess I forgot how much company I had at the time

people also only remember when they were right about something
phhfft. This is the internet… like television on steroids. My attention span maxes out at about 3.5 seconds – and you’re bringing up stuff from April?
