I watched most of the first half of Spain-Greece with Manolis. He’s not that happy right now. Only Spanoulis is doing anything for Greece in a very gritty, defensive (i.e. brick-filled) game. Spain is slowly starting to assert their dominance though as Rudy Fernandez and Jose Calderon are playing well.

Thoughts?

The Spain/Greece game is the worst game of basketball I have witnessed on live TV. Incredibly boring and bad. Those are my thoughts. When does the Manu show start?

Until the Argentines: Transformers, The Bone Collector, Penn And Teller, or other Olympics. What to watch? The Spain victory is unwatchable.

Angelina Jolie is in he bone collector and her dad’s corpse has been resurrected for the Transformers. What movie was it that they both appeared in?

BTW, I liked “Wanted” with Jolie. It was a good summer popcorn movie even though it made no sense.

I’ve seen porn with better acting than Wanted. It was terrible.

by Aaronstampler on Aug 10, 2008 3:04 AM CDT up reply actions

There you are. The acting was bad? No, that was the writing. Out of the idiotic summer comic book movies, I found it to be the second most enjoyable.

Everything about that movie was terrible and I wish everyone involved with it a gruesome death, with the possible pardon of Angelina Jolie if she is willing to collect a bone I have for her. The writing, the acting, the special effects, the story, it was too cartoony even for a popcorn flick. This is as B movie as B movies get, but without the unintentional comedy.

Or as Manolis summed it up, “I’m not even sure if the fourth Batman movie was this bad.”

Seriously, if you want to see a movie that Wanted was trying to be, go rent “Shoot ‘Em Up” with Clive Owen. A thousand times better in every way.

by Aaronstampler on Aug 10, 2008 3:15 AM CDT up reply actions

I saw Shoot Em Up. It was halfway decent as well. Those kind of movies aren’t really my faves though. I just enjoyed Wanted as piece of popcorn. A guilty pleasure. Do you never indulge yourselves in such.

My guilty pleasures are more comedies like Step Brothers. For a popcorn movie, Iron Man or Batman is about all I can handle. I had expectations of Wanted. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have seen it. It was like a hundred times worse than I could’ve imagined, yet about two minutes into it, I knew it was going to be as shitty as it wound up being. That’s the one positive thing about it I can say – the director didn’t surprise anyone by striking a sour note a third of the way in or halfway in, no he pretty much announced he made a shit film from the opening credits.

by Aaronstampler on Aug 10, 2008 3:27 AM CDT up reply actions

Iron Man was about as dull as Wanted IMO. Another piece of popcorn. Not as funny as I thought it would be considering the reviews, and the actions scenes were predictable and uninteresting. I thought it would have made a good series but felt a little ripped off at the fact that it was just a movie.

Have you seen the outtake from Step Brothers where the guy has the heart attack? That is hilarious. Unfortunatley I have heard that is funnier than the whole movie (I haven’t seen the movie).

that movie was better than I expected it’d be, really. Some really funny sequences, and some that didn’t work as well. Much better than Semi-Pro.

I'll check it out

Generation Kill is great

You watching that? I have been enjoying it even more than the Wire. Well, it is essentially the Wire in Iraq…Ed Burns is hand is as easily identifiable as Albrecht Durer’s

I have never seen a second of Generation Kill or the Wire. I have never seen any of the three Godfather movies. I’ve never watched a Spurs game in San Antonio or set foot in San Antonio. I’ve never known the loving touch of a Brazilian woman.

If you all are looking for a hero, I suggest you look elsewhere.

(I have been catching up with “Lost” though, and it’s okay. Better than I thought it’d be. It’s like Seinfeld, but with a bigger cast and on an island. Everyone is stupid and selfish and awful to each other.)

by Aaronstampler on Aug 10, 2008 3:21 AM CDT reply actions

Greece-Spain

Not as one-sided as the score suggests.

Greece had wide open looks at three all game long and bricked most of them terribly. Also, they were unspeakably awful from the stripe and their Baby Shaq guy played way too much like the current model to be effective. God is he fat.

It wasn’t the prettiest game to watch, but I doubt very many of these tournament games will be. The refs are poor and you never know what’s going to be called and what will not be. It’s completely random from moment to moment.

Right now I see horsies on my screen. If I don’t get it switched back to hoops by 1:45, I’m going to be seriously fucking pissed.

by Aaronstampler on Aug 10, 2008 3:25 AM CDT reply actions

I missed most of the last season of Lost. I do dig that show. It is best watched with the entire season in hand though.

Manu with 6 pts, 2/5 FG, 2-2 FTs, Delfino with 10.
