The Spurs Just Got Younger And Cleaner In One Fell Swoop
AusTechSpur officially broke the story on the Summer League #6 thread, so I want to give him credit, but during an interview an otherwise annoyed and preoccupied R.C. Buford confirmed to the sideline reporter that Robert Horry officially will not be back with the Spurs.
If this bit of news produced and immediate rock hard erection for you, as it did for me, then please go find that special little someone in your life (or failing that, maybe an adult magazine or website of your choice) and flog your dolphin for all its worth.
Happy days are here again...

If you look at the 7:20 mark of the game thread you will see that 4 people, 1 of whom was pretending to study, all chimed in with a “did he just say what I think he said” comment. But I was first. Woot!
As Stampler pointed out, the unspoken implication was that Finley would be back.
Stampler, why do you have to bring up the dirty thing? Can we just let us be younger?

So the question is: Is he retiring or signing with somebody else?

Hey, it wasnt all bad.
He had some big moments for the Spurs, I can only hope this means The Big Frenchie makes the team.
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

on his whole body of spurs work, i love the man. his 3-ball in game 5 vs. the pistons is one of the all time best moments in franchise history if you ask me. right after that, you have to remember his two back court steals followed by 3-balls vs. denver. classics. his place in spurs lore should be safe. but…..it was past time for him to go. he should have went after last year. i cannot blame him for hanging on to try and win another one if the team agreed to bring him back. fault the spurs organization for that.
either way, i am more relieved than anything

It’s so hard to read these posts through the tears of joy that fill my eyes.

Somewhere out there, probably in a white suburban neighborhood, Matt Bonner rejoices a little.

i know that those f us who heard that interview live picked it up immediately and started going into typing convulsions, but has this little nugget been reported anywhere else as of yet? i haven’t yet seen it out there in the “legitimate” media.
its kind of like when the US military reported the capture of saddam hussein. i just didn’t believe it entirely until i saw those spooky pictures of him with that flashlight in his mug.

Yeah, it does seem kind of weird. If it had been just me watching, I’d think by now that I was hallucinating. Granted, this isn’t a big story in the grand scheme of NBA things. But this is big if you are a Spurs fan. And it isn’t on mysanantonio.com.
Btw, what’s up with the guys at the expressnews/mysanantonio.com. They changed their site format. Their courtside blog is an inactive link. They are liking to articles here at PtR - surprisingly though, not to “quit picking on my buddy, you dicks!” - and other blogs. Did the Jeff McDonald guy get canned? Turmoil I tell you. Turmoil.

We still owe him a championship. I should probably feel guilty about my complete and total happiness.

BTW, how scared do you think Bonner is right now? Pop might actually use him this year, and he could prove once and for all that Horry was actually a better choice in the past two years.
Or he could step up and contribute, I guess. But I’m not a believer.
