So Manu's leaning towards chasing the Gold
It was reported by the local media in Argentina. I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, I want him to be 100% ready for the Spurs next season so am worried he won't be able to recharge his batteries and heal completely from the jammed ankle (or worse) in time, so don't want him to participate. On the other hand I realize he's a national hero there (he's to Argentina what Pele was to Brazil) and representing his country and fellow countrymen is HUGE for him and them, so I would like for him to do so. I just don't know..........like I said I'm torn. What do you guys (and girls) think?

I want him to do it if (and only if) he feels healthy enough to do so. I think he can make that judgment based on how he feels and what the medics say.

Thumbs Down
afterall can they really top what they did in the last Olympics, pass the torch Manu to the next generation.
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

He’s to Argentina what Maradona is to Argentina.
I for one want him on the Olympics.
I might be biased.

I expected nothing less from you
LD. And I know how much it means to you guys. That’s why I’m torn…....it pits my selfish wants/needs against what I know is probably right. Either way I’ll probably be cool with whatever happens…..I’ll just have my fingers crossed and be wearing my lucky jersey on game days if he does…

Are you talking about the interview they did of him in Telefe Noticias? I saw that too. He said he had been 5 days into rehab, and had progressed normally and was even advancing better than expected, and that a trainer from San Antonio was helping him with rehab. He also said that he was gonna play a game soon and there he would see if he was ready or not. But you could clearly see the guy wants to play. The reporter in the interview said it’s very probably he would play in the Olympics.
Also, according to Manu, his wife is the one that gives the orders around the house.

This isn’t good news. If it happens, look for Manu to run out of steam in the playoffs, (yet again), unless his minutes and games are reduced drastically. The NBA is already an extremely demanding sport. Nobody over 30 should plan on being a starter if they compete in the off-season.

Yep
If he does, I just hope he doesn’t hurt anything else. Either way, look for him win sixth man again, with fewer starts throughout the year if he does than if he doesn’t.
