Pop on Gino's ankle
From ESPN:
Ginobili hurt his ankle early in the playoffs and a recent MRI exam revealed that a ligament in his heel is about five times the size of the one in his other heel, Popovich says.
Ginobili will have another MRI exam in three weeks, but Popovich said that "if it hasn't changed at all, I think he should definitely not play in the Olympics."

Thanks, znimrod.
This tidbit thrown in at then end also caught me (not sure it really has much impact but he sure helped Tony’s shot) -
Engelland interviews : Spurs assistant Chip Engelland has interviewed for a spot on Terry Porter’s bench in Phoenix.
Engellend, a shooting guru widely credited with helping to remake Tony Parker’s shot, has been with the Spurs for three seasons. He can extract himself from his Spurs contract only if he is promoted to a larger role with another club.

i really hope he stays around for a little while longer, at least. even though his work hasn’t been ‘in your face” dramatic, it’s been very noticeable. so i would like to see him stay for a few more years, see how much more improvement he can get out of our guys.

I hate to say it...
... but I’m 100% sure Manu’s going to at least try to play in the Olympics. I’m just hoping for one of three things:
1. He miraculously heals and there is no problem.
2. He doesn’t heal, but is ineffective enough that Argentina doesn’t play him and goes with Delfino or Nocioni or someone.
3. He is so injured that he literally can’t walk and can’t even think about playing.
1 and 3 are not likely, so here’s hoping Delfino blows everyone away in workouts and Manu sits himself down to the benefit of the team.

On #2, I’m guessing you mean “He heals partially, but is ineffective enough…”.
The fact the Manu was playing at all says a lot about his competetiveness. Most people wouldn’t even try walking on that kind of injury, let alone playing in the NBA WCF’s.
As a Spurs fan, I want Manu and his ankle kept in a hyperbaric hibernation chamber until about mid-January.
chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

Great idea
We should throw a telethon… you’re in charge. :-)
I am happy. I am proud. - Manu Ginobili
