Except for the last series, Manu had a fantastic year

I think we need to remember that Manu had a career year this year.

He averaged over 19 points per game. He was named 6th man of the year and made 3rd team all-nba. That puts him in the top 6 guards in the league. He was great in the first 2 playoff series and was the Spurs best player in the NO series. He is in the prime of his career right now.

I watched most of the Spurs games this year on the NBA package. Watching Manu play this year was simply a joy. The 40 point games, the back to back 37 point games against Dallas and Utah when Duncan was out, the last second winner against Milwaukee. There were many more games where he played great.

It is a shame that most will remember him for the LA series. It breaks my heart to have watched him play so poorly after such a great year.and I know that he will look back on the season as a failure because of the way it finished.

I don't think there is any reason to believe he doesn't have a couple more years like this left in him. So I am already looking forward to next year.

So I would like to thank Manu and the Spurs for a very entertaining season.

Yes he did

Many idiots will talk about how he is the reason the Spurs lost the series, but true Spur fans know, Manu was the Spurs MVP this season. He’ll be back strong next season.

Love Manu, but I’ve got a contrarian perspective. First, I give the series MVP against Suns and Hornets to TP. He destroyed Nash and played Paul even. It was a crime that TP gets overshadowed and barely attracts votes for All-NBA. He’s All-NBA on my list. Second, Manu is going to be 31 next season, his body has taken a beating including full year seasons with international play, and his injuries may be chronic. Does arthritis in the ankle heal? Manu definitely has a few good years left as a 6th man, but we need to make some moves to supplement and replace his swingman scoring over the next 2 years. Finley is 35 and has gone from 2-time All-Star to the worst starting #2 in the league. I fear that Manu’s play will enter a steep decline in another year or two, and we may have seen the beginning of this trend in the playoffs. Or, maybe his injuries will heal and he will quickly return to form. I hope, but am cautiously pessimistic.

I think Manu still has a few good years left. The MRI on his ankle was negative. It was just swollen. He just never had time to heal it. I really wish Pop had just held him out of the first two LA games. That would have given him a nice rest and I think guaranteed victory in our first two home games. Of course Pop probably did not know how bad Manu’s ankle hurt him.

good to hear. he did say something like “I’ve never felt like that” referencing his injury in post-game interviews. so, hopefully, his struggles were all injury-related and now he can heal up. but wait, he’s playing for the home country in the Beijing Olympics! man, I hope he’s healthy next year but his year around bball is taking a toll.

I’d trade Manu for Josh Howard any day.

Really?

I wouldn’t touch #420 with a stick. Granted, I’m not naive enough to believe Howard is the only player to smoke weed, but why would you create a distraction like that for your team when your team is already experiencing chemistry issues.

I think you need to quit this blog. Thats might be worse that Matt’s shameful Manu for Kevin Martin idea back at the beginning of 07.

why would you trade for a 4th quarter disappearing act and get rid of one of the best closers in the game? that’s insanity.

One4TheThumb is lucky I don’t have Matthew’s powers. I’d have given him the GinobiliSucks treatment in a blink.

The Big Bug? Of all people? Really?

You know how every second a person dies that little fraction of their lives? After reading that I think I died like a minute worth in that one second. You just took a minute off my life, you fucktard.
