Pearl Jam in Our Corner?
"I told Brent Barry that when he's retired, I'm moving on to full time NCAA and high school ball," said Jeff Ament, bassist for Pearl Jam.
Amid the no-call and the Tiago defection that has now ruined my day, the thought of the Pearl Jam bass player giving up on the NBA if the Spurs lose tonight (and Brent then retires) somehow amuses me.

i used to love love love the chilli peppers – and though i dont like the lakers at all, magic johnson was/is one of my all time favorite tunes. however, i kind of want to kick their ass now because of all the crap they have turned out since bloodsugarsexmagick.
i’m blaming the subpar music on them growing up and sobering up, for sure…......but mostly one hot minute and beyond is the fault of dave navarro. he set them along this path which they still havent got off of.
at least the chilli’s put out 6-7 records before they went to crap – as opposed to PJ, who got two good ones out.

what!?
I cant believe what I reading, this is way off topic of course, but Im the exact opposite, I think their later stuff is far, far superior to the early records. The music so much more dynamic and melodic.
I wasnt aware that pearl jam were such Barry Fans, I knew they like Mooke Blalock b/c that was their name once upon a time, and the name of their album “ten”, also mookies number.
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

You actually like them? Haven’t they just been recycling the same song year after year?

actually I don’t give a damn about the Chili Peppers, it was just a comparison. But once again you have to blah, blah, blah after every one of my posts.

One man’s blah blah blah, is another man’s opinion. I see that you like to tune differing views out. In my view Anthony Kiedis and his clan are douchebags extrordinaire. That opinion is reinforced every time I see them at a Laker game, and every time a Laker fans mentions that the Chili Peppers are Lakers fans.
See you at the next blah blah blah, mr. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

dont like them anymore for that very reason. but prior to 1992-93, they were one of only a few bands to matter in my opinion, laker fans or not. the bad part is that the coasting part of their career has now spanned 15+ years.

Pearl Jam = San Antonio Spurs
Pearl Jam are the the San Antonio Spurs of rock music. PJ flies under the rock band radar but have some of the best musicians out there. And year after year they keep making quality rock music. Have any of you guys checked out the Into The Wild soundtrack? Vedder, albeit without Pearl Jam, lays down some truth and kicks it old school with some anti-war folk melodies at the end. It’s been in heavy rotation at my house for a couple of weeks now.
A quick stroll through youtube revealed these Pearl Jam gems:
Even Flow (if you don’t like this tune then I can’t help you) –

Alive (great lyrics, great melody, perfect sentiment) – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbhsYC4gKy4&feature=related
I also highly recommend “Love Boat Captain” and “Wishlist,” two of my favorites.
Now RHCP used to be one of my favorite bands. John Frusciante has long been a personal hero. However, the last couple of albums have been way too saccharine and lazy for my taste. I can’t listen to “Dani California.” However, when they were young, hungry and working with Rick Rubin at his house in LA they were the shit. Check it here:

P.S. One of my favorite bootlegs was Pearl Jam – Live in San Antonio. Unfortunately, I lost it when my computer crashed a few years back. Anyone out there have a copy?
Allez Spurs!

Soundgarden>Pearl Jam
And Black is PJ’s best song, how can you not include that.

Good call
I’ve never really gotten into Soundgarden but to each his own. But I will give you that Chris Cornell does have some chops.
“Black” is definitely in my top five. I love the performance on this one. Here ya go – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivD5kY_OqlI&feature=related
