Crawford's last laugh
Yes, he just let Fisher sodomize Barry in front of God and everyone. Barry obviously deserved a minimum of 2 freethrows. Some refs might have even given him 3 shots. I am sure he is chuckling right now as he heads back to the airport Hilton. Incredibly though, he hadn't been too egregious before that. Sure, he blew some other really obvious calls, mostly that pertained to Duncan, but he was fairly liberal on calling the Lakers' blatent hacks, blocks, and reaches. That was OK. It was just too bad the Spurs sucked ass (Manu esp.) so badly that they could not grab this winnable game.
And that is not too bad. You know why? Because if the Spurs had won this game, then they would have mailed in game 5. The only way they would have won that won in that case, would have been if the Lakers had also mailed it in, and then it would have been a tossup. Instead, the Spurs are going to claw tooth and nail to get game 5. I would put their chances at better than 50% for that game. Had they won, I would have put their chances at about 10%. If the Spurs end up after Thursday down 3-2, will it really make any difference that they lost the home game and won on the road? I don't think so. Go get 'em Spurs. These Lakers are ripe for the picking. They are overconfident right now and about to experience their first home playoffs loss.

gut-check time
i’d like to see more of thomas on thursday. watching manu get beaten to a pulp (okay, to even more of a pulp) on the low block by odom/walton is almost more than i can bear.
oh, and fuck joey crawford. fuck him right…in…the ear!

Well that sucked....
I hate to win that way. I give props to Brent Barry and Pop for their post-game comments. They know it was a foul, but also know that is not why they lost the game. I wish the Lakers would have played that last 1:00 with a little intelligence so we would not have to discuss the non-call for two days, but brain cells are scarce as usual with the Lakers.
Other than that it was a good, hard fought game, and the officiating was certainly not against the Spurs (last play notwithstanding).
I will give you guys credit for another thing. I have never seen a more fundamentally sound team in my life.
Good luck Thursday.

Agreed pslakerfan
It sucked through and through. I hear that we played like absolute snot, and almost every sense of the word, the Lakers earned this game. But that is NOT how it will be done, nor remembered.
I suppose this is what we were talking about before the game, in the 1st half thread, when PtR was getting all up in arms worrying over Crawford…perhaps now you guys in Cali understand a bit better….even though the Spurs sucked, and the Lakers rolled, then the Lakers sucked and the Spurs rolled, even though there were obvious missed calls both ways, this game…”the Crawford game” of the LA series, will be remembered solely on the blatant missed call that Crawford even shook his head on at the end..acknowledging that he saw it, he noted it, and he wasn’t going to do squat about it. This is the “conspiracy” crap that we can NOT stand here….if the Spurs manage to win Game 5 and Game 6, but lose it in 7 (entirely possible) it will be “well they could have won the series IF Crawford would have called that, the Spurs would have won!! If….IF….IFFFFF…. I can’t stand that kind of stuff.
At least give Barry the cred for NOT flopping, and the Spurs cred for not blaming anything on that non-call. We need to emulate them and lose with the same class we profuse to have when we win.
Good win Laker fans. You guys earned it. Now I’m going to get some sleep :(

Did somebody steal ps’s login name?
I appreciate the good words, class and sportsmanship. But this is the exact opposite thing you were squealing after the game- what gives? I’m lost and confused by your mind games, but I so desperately want to believe that you’ve turned a corner….

I guess you are talking about what I said on the game thread? I was just being a dick like you were. I am respectful of the way that your team plays and I do not gloat (dare you to find me gloating). However if you are being a dick (which you were) then I am going to call it out.

Please list said dickish behavior on my part, on a SPURS blog. I’ll apologize if I see fit.

Exactly what I suspected. Troll makes claim. Troll can’t verify claim. Troll twists explanation for being unable to verify claim. Troll changes subject to distract from unverified claim. Troll slinks back to his cave.

This one in particular was a bit dickish (good word by the way) :-)
“Not coming around when we had you on your heels or could have won in the final seconds is chicken shit. Only showing up when you’re far ahead or after you’ve won is pure laker class. Gloating is what you guys are about. Enjoy knowing that we played terrible and you still needed a no-call by the officials at the buzzer to win.”

Fair enough.
I truthfully don’t believe that to be dickish. Responding (on a SPURS blog, again) to a “fan” who only joined the thread at the end when the victory was secured and only to gloat, sometimes requires frank honesty. That behavior IS the definition of chicken shit. There’s always an explanation like “I only post after games,” or “my computer was down.” But we here all tend to live by the honor of ‘win with class, lose with class,’ and it’s difficult to be patient with those who don’t follow the same creed and only care about the W.
The ‘pure laker class’ was a little bit of a jab, and that probably could have been avoided and would have with a poster proven to contribute objectively the majority of the time (like yourself). I realize that we can’t paint all of you freaks with the same brush; there are good laker fans and there are bad laker fans, as with any franchise. But if someone is fulfilling the stereotype…......or better yet, ‘if the shoe fits.’
“Gloating is what you guys are about.”- this one’s really hard for me to refute, since so many fans only joined us after regulation with nothing but praise for the lakers, or mocking for the SPURS. I should have said, “Gloating is what all of you laker fans only on here right now and not posting earlier when you were missing shots then waiting til the end to rub in a loss to another fanbase are about.” That would have been more specific, avoided lumping all of you together and avoided feelings being hurt.
The “dead to me” was mostly tongue in cheek, and a ‘shout-out’ reference to an earlier comment by another PtRer; though I do sometimes unfairly cast off those who I feel have nothing constructive to add (kinda like what someone else once did to VWolf). Not giving useless bandwagon fans a response to their idiocy is usually enough to quiet them down, and far more effective than any words. This is typically the sign that you’ve run your lifespan on PtR.
I accept your apology for being a dick, even if it was based on mistaken assumption. Thanks again for being a part of PtR. It’s fun listening to you.

I think the Lakers will beat our beloved Spurs on Thursday..the team is just too tired and Manu..isn’t healthy, what a shame it is, because every fair weather fan will act like he dissappeared instead of him playing on his sheer will!
Horrible way to end the game…hopefully the only good that comes out of this is that Crawford should be fired, he really has a grudge that he has been holding on to!

Second that on the Crawford firing. I’m looking for the explanation, preferably in the tell-all book titled, “How David Robinson Rejected Me: The Autograph That Never Was.” Forward by Shaquille O’Neal.

Ha Ha
That is funny…but man, with all the controversy, I seriously doubt they’d still do crap to him. They should have let him go period when they found out enough evidence to bar him from the rest of the regular season AND the postseason. I was astounded that he still had a job. If any one of us in our normal jobs did enough to have the job suspend you for at least 1/2 the working year, they wouldn’t suspend you, they’d fire your butt!!!
Though if anything happens, honestly-the end of this year would be the time for the NBA. As much as the Lakers are beloved by ….well…just about everyone not in Boston, MA….there are the voices that are getting steadily louder that there IS bias in the referreeing. With Donaughey now coming out and saying stuff, and with his proven betting on games, etc…the NBA can ill afford even the SLIGHTEST hint that a ref-someone with game changing influence, as seen with Donaughey—has a grudge match thing going with a team and / or teams. It’s just not healthy for the game at all.
Kiddo’s up, so my idea of going to sleep, just went in smoke :(
