we knew manu would be himself sooner or later.
You guys aren’t the only ones with useless players. Horry and Finley I feel bad for, they just can’t do much more. Odom friggin pisses me off. So much talent, he shouldn’t have games like this. He still hasn’t realized he’s useless off the drive (against the Spurs anyway) and so much better cutting off the ball. I’ve been trying to scream this at him for days, but Farmar is probably the only one that heard me.
Sorry had to vent
That’s awesome. You’re my favorite Laker fan.
Yeah, but at least Odom CAN go off and help you. The chance for RoHo doing this for us is looooooonnnggg past; he brings nothing to the table at this point.

Two things.
1. I’m drinking. I don’t usually drink, but it’s my anniversary. So, if I say something that seems out of character you understand why.
2. Doug Collins and “the Lakers have owned the fourth quarter” can suck my dick! Just saying.

No way
Is bristol better than New Belgium. 1554 is a great dark ale, especially good for drowning sorrows (when harder stuff isn’t necessary). Fat Tire is amazing with seafood, or with spicy meals, and the finish will NOT let me leave one unopened in my fridge. I can only buy as many as I want to drink at that time, otherwise I will drink more than I intended.
I'm comfortable winning -- Emmanuel Ginobili
Okay #1, how in the world does a guy in Palestine know about Bristol Brewery of Colorado Springs?! And #2, you’re insane. New Belgium is great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s gotten too corporate and too “mass-produced” in the last few years. It’s lost some of it’s touch. Bristol, still just a small micro that doesn’t bottle outside of the area, has retained that special touch that the smaller brewerys hold. Their ‘Winter Warlock Oatmeal Stout’ is the breakfast of champions.

Okay, okay, okay.
So, the other day I’m in the yard pulling up weeds when I see this toad that I accidentally chopped in half. It was freaking gross. Anyway, it’s sort of sucking it’s last breath and looks at me in this weird way that stupid animals do and sort of croaks it’s last breath. And I’m like, “what the fuck do you think he was saying to me?”

"Without our game 1 melt down this is a 2-1 series to us"
Suns fans said the same thing.
Good game.
Best thing about this game is that the refs called Bowen for a foul on Kobe’s three point shot. Bowen walks under guys like all that time. Just because your hands are down, it doesn’t mean you can walk right into the path of the player.
Amazing how much playing at home matters. I’m just glad the Lakers got the home court advantage. I don’t think they’ll blow a game 7 like the Hornets, if it goes that far. I don’t know about any of the other permutations, (Lakers in 5, Spurs in 5, Spurs in 6, Lakers in 6), but the least likely one to me seems to be Spurs in 7. Of course, I am a Laker fan, but that’s my attempt to be objective.

"Without our game 1 melt down this is a 2-1 series to us"
Actually Suns fans could NOT have stated that, or meant it….the Spurs did come back handily to win Game 1, but beat them by about 7 in Game 2 (not the nail-biter at all) and destroyed them with like 60-70% shooting in Game 3. It would have been at best, 2-1 Spurs. Easily.

I know what you’re saying, but it’s not called the “San Antonio Creek”.
Why don’t you like the River Walk?
Well, it’s not very rivery in a natural sense. It’s a bit of water stuck inside a bunch of concrete. It stinks a bit and it ends in a mall.
It’s nothing like the Elbe that runs through Dresden and Prague.
Have you ever been there to it? (I know you are in Czech, I don’t know if you are from SA).
by Wayne Vore (ATS) on May 25, 2008 11:09 PM CDT up reply actions
Actually, the Elbe doesn’t run through Prague, but rather about 30 miles north of Prague it starts flowing east toward Moravia.
Yes, I’m from SA and am therefore biased, but I like the uniqueness of the Riverwalk, especially at night.
My bad. I thought the Elbe hit Prague. I grew up in SA as well. The river never did much for me. It’s, well, ugly.

Great game tonight :)
Was out again (Memorial Day weekend) and when I got back I just couldn’t bear to turn on the TV to the game or check here for people wanting to kill something….so I waited until it was relatively safe and checked out the TNT broadcast…to hear Chuck dissin’ the riverwalk. So the Spurs HAD to have won! Yay :)
Series hinges on Manu…when he’s on like tonight apparently *(30 pts!! 5/5 3’s! Wow) then the Lakers can’t win against SA…not when Duncan goes…lemme get this right…22 pts. 22 reb. 5 assists? W O.O W Let’s hope Manu continues to look like what he does in the highlights (healthy) and we can take this series!!! :D
"This team is like a bunch of cockroaches. They just don't die!" -Charles Barkley, after Game 7 vs. the NOOCH.
Good news!!!!
Well I can take a lot of good out of that game.
1. No more using Ginobili’s injuries as an excuse.
2. It got boring yesterday with all of you guys being depressed and not posting. :) :) :)
3. We have both had our “we couldn’t possibly play worse” games.
4. My prediction of Lakers in 5 was never going to pan out unless you guys won one. :) :)
Waiting patiently for Tuesday…...................
Always look on the bright side of life
It’s very important to learn from Brian in these instances. I tried after game 2 but it didn’t take.
I'm comfortable winning -- Emmanuel Ginobili
1) Thank God, I was getting tired of seeing “beat up Manu” and I wanted Manu healthy….because a) he gives the Spurs the BEST chance to win, and b) so there are no excuses if the Lakers win. Also did you hear Bryant? He was like “wow that thing was DISGUSTING” when looking at Manu’s finger. When you are grossing out the other team, you have a qualifiable injury :)
2) I was having the time of my life with my wife yesterday, and my kiddos. I’m not going to stick around a computer all day everyday :p
3) True, but as SiMA says below/above(wherever this post lands), the Spurs were up by 20 in 2 of the 3 games, with the Lakers up by 20-30 in 1. If the Spurs didn’t have a monumental (worst in Spurs history in the playoffs) collapse in Game 1, we could be looking at a repeat of the semis, where each team won by 10+ each time….and we all know how that ended up.
4) Our prediction of Spurs in 6 can’t come true unless you win 2, which can still play out.
If you hear Jackson at the end of the game, even he said “well the Spurs are up off the mat now, we’ll see what happens in Game 4….our guys SUCKED.” Honestly though, should Manu look anywhere near what he looked tonight (I’d say about 80%, he still didn’t have the drive to finish at the rim he said) during Game 4, the Lakers will have a LOT of issues on thier hands. The Spurs were up by 20 on thier floor, it took an epic comeback to win barely (and the worst collapse in Spurs history) and were beaten by 20 before. Aye the Spurs were like this once (just last series) so they already know what it’s like to go “well, we got our butts kicked, we’re down 0-2. Let’s just win this in 6-7.” Do the Lakers know how to do that yet?
Only reason I ask is that watching a lot of the replays and reading Daily DIme and CNNSI, the Lakers’ role players looked lost, and looked for Kobe to “will them to victory.” That’s 2 times in 3 games now that they’ve done that…. and Kobe’s now 1-1. If they have that same look on Game 4, can you honestly not be a bit afraid?
"This team is like a bunch of cockroaches. They just don't die!" -Charles Barkley, after Game 7 vs. the NOOCH.
Pacific Division Champs Good-
1.) We knew we weren’t sweeping them, this was just our bad game in the series.
2.) No one showed up at all other than #8/24, and we stayed with them on the road for the majority of the game.
3.) The odds of getting Odom AND Pau AND Fish all playing average to badly in one game again is minute.
4.) It took huge outings from their roles and from the injured Manu, at home, to give them the W.
SPURS Good-
1.) We got great performances from the bench, and Manu stepped up big. Hopefully this means he’s feeling much better.
2.) We have been 20+ ahead of the our opponent in 2 of the 3 games. We only need to play a full 48 to win.
3.) We’ve put the pressure back on them to avoid tying the series and taken some of their confidence.
4.) We’ve learned even more about their weak points and holes in their game, and can further capitalize on them next game.
5.) Aside from our customary —-—-——game, we’ve thoroughly dominated our opponent both at home and on the road.
All in all, a pretty good night for the SPURS. It’s definately not over, and we’ll have to realize that they won’t be laying another egg in this series and we’ll still have to win on the road. Pop will also be making the adjustments needed (I’m willing it) to continue tonight’s start. And hopefully, we won’t lay ANOTHER egg in this series as we did several times the last. This challenger won’t be as forgiving. If we can continue to heal up and rest in the 20 minutes between games, it still looks promising. Great game guys, night all.
What Cheryl lacks in ears she makes up in cock n balls. -CMoney
now this was the kind of game that we have been expecting. by the time kobe went on his rampage, it was too late.
we got out manu back and brent barry was the fourth leg of the table that we needed. man, bones was friggin awesome. the ball was moving and the shots were falling. the defense was stifling.
agreed that the lakers will be better in game 4 than they were in game 3. tuesday is yet another game 7 situation for our spurs. need it bad. the kind of defense played tonite will be needed again – the good news for the spurs in this series is that they have played pretty well defensively throughout. that must continue.

Could Pop be afraid of Finley checking out if he replaces him with Barry?

Make or break
Yeah, yeah. I believe. But we didn’t play great basketball last night. We were trying to limit any damage we could to do ourselves at all costs on every play. Tentative, was a word that came to mind. Everyone outside of Tim, Manu, and Bruce needs to step up. And why does Tony fall every time he drives the lane? 9 times out of 10 it results in a fast break the other way. He really, really needs to work on that.
Game 4 is (again…) a must win for us. I can only hope Pop is really scheming it up for Gasol and Odom. Bruce will do his thing but Pau and Odom will bounce back. We better be prepared to hound them into making mistakes. I’d like to see us shake LA’s confidence and Odom or Pau might be the place to start.
For us, I came out of last night wishing for Bonner to steal a few of Horry’s minutes in the 2nd quarter. Horry is not looking for his shot at all. He provided a nice spark vs. NOOCH and now he’s scared to shoot vs. LA. Shoot the rock, Bobby! I HATE FINLEY but… sticking with him is probably the best medicine. He’s hit some big shots for us in the playoffs this year and we’ll need more from him to win this series. FINALLY, JV is TRASH. If I have to see the guy penetrate and run along the baseline (only step put of bounds!) one more time I’m going to…
Allez Spurs!
