New Blog: World Soccer Digest for Soccer Fans!

Dear People,

it is articles like bill plasche's that that make beating the lakers much more sweet. he will eat his words and probably delete the articles from his hardrive when we start our defeating rampage... the only problem is, after we win the series and are on planes to the finals, his "jumping the gun" newpaper article will be all over the world. what a foolish writer. he exposed way too much victory for his own good too early and has probably jinxed his team for the remainder of this series. so laker fans, you can thank that d bag for a "great" article. am i jumping the gun with my assessment? hell no.

laker fans:  do not rest.  that was the lakers 1 glory story game of the series.  remember, we were up on you guys by 20 points on your floor... does that not scare the absolute shit out of you? have you not learned from us? do you not realize we drop a game or two here and there but come back and prevail like demons in the night? who the hell is teaching this guy to write game 4 sweep articles after one away game? who the hell watched the spurs/hornets series?

spurs fans: rest and relax.  if we take just one game in the city of angels, the lakedogs are finished.  we were up by 20 and foolishly let it slip away.  ok, its over now so deal with it.  WE WENT UP BY 20 IN LA!  we were tired and didn't have the rest the lakers did or the home court advantage.  we were morons and let the game go.. blah blah.  i can tell you who is thinking about that more than any of us - THE DAMN TEAM.  do not fright my compadres, we are on the brink of destroying some major california souls.

I'm not fretting

The Spurs showed heart to not get blown out of the water and to fight like they did anyway. And I have to post this some where. Tim Duncan. Was he not a beast last night? I know he didn’t have his usual clutchtastic play in the 4th, but he was battling so hard on the boards last night. For all the talk about how bad Kobe wants another ring, check out #21. He wants #5 people, and he wants it bad.

What does Bill Plaschke know about Sports?

Nothing.

He was a big Kobe hater when Shaq got traded.

He basically writes whatever the public wants to read. So he’s a good commercial writer.

True

Somewhere here I posted an article written by him in where he stated “Spurs in 6.”

In Sportswriters’ defense, I do have to say that some get picked to write what they have to write about…he probably got picked to write how the Lakers will win the series. But to do it in 4? No way.

Plus, I don't believe in Jinxes

I believe the better team will prevail, like you say.

I just happen to believe that’s the Lakers.

Exactly

The funny thing is that Laker fans hate Bill Plaschke more than anyone else. (Excluding TJ Simers of course) I find it a little funny that you guys think that we are hanging our hat on what Plaschke says. Quite the opposite believe me.

See? Now THIS is a good post. Valuable information for a different fanbase. An excellent exchange of ideas and opinion, made without being obnoxious or repetive. Thank you, and congratulations.

Fundabeast!

I believe. (Despite still being pissed off as hell that we blew a 20 point lead. Put it this way, I woke up pissed off.)
Duncan looked great out there last night. His midrange jumper and follow up late in the 4th coupled with a number of clutch defensive rebounds really impressed me. I like the Spurs role players to rebound in Game 2 and I’m seeing monster games for TP and Gino now that we see how Odom/Gasol are going to play it.
On a side note: I would not want to piss Gino off, that’s for sure. I thought I felt bad until I saw his post game interview.

Allez Spurs!

Right with you here. I’m STILL pissed off and embarassed, but that too will pass. I felt the same way several times during the NO series, and was quickly put in my place by my PtR family. I’m nowhere close to panicing at this point.

TD will be FAR more clutch over the course of the series, as will Tony. We’ll be far more prepared and rested for Game 2. Manu will actually show up for the next game. Our role players will step up even more, and our defense won’t show as many 2nd half holes as Game 1’s did. We now understand that a quality 40 minutes won’t be enough versus this opponent. Not to mention the brilliance by our coach at adjusting and coming out stronger (although he formed doubt within my mind last series, he’s still the best in the game over 7 games). I’m confident and still believing. LA didn’t wow me like I expected last night and I think we’ve seen the way to control their game and beat them. My prediction stays at 6 games. Good game to the lakers/You’re welcome.

And let me be the first to say- Here’s hoping that the tarmac aircraft mechanics in LA are somehow SPURS fans.

and this will happen, and that will happen, and this will happen, etc. blah blah blah

by pslakerfan on May 22, 2008 10:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I can’t imagine how much BS you would be spewing if you guys actually won. My god I didn’t realize that going up 20 in game 1 means that you will do it every game. Thank god that must also mean we will come back to beat you each game too. It is amazing that everything we did good was an anomaly and everything you guys did bad was one too. I am scared shitless now. I can’t imagine how badly you are going to beat us in game 2. The funny thing is no matter what happens in Game 2 I expect the same stuff from you guys. Either see I told you so or who cares we lost the first two in NO and look what happened.

What happened to the witty retorts, the objective analysis, the fair criticism, the open dialogue? Now it’s just blind laker bandwagon shit talk, and it’s weak. Excuses happen from both sides, no kidding. I’m starting to realize that either you’re extremely bored and get thrills from trolling/antagonizing, or you truly enjoy the greatness of PtR. If the former, you’ll be quickly weeded out and ignored. If the latter, make some valid points (with more than just sheer homerism) without basic Rome-reject smack.

Late.

and what the hell else would you expect from real nba fans? i provide, like many others here, gasoline for your fire. hmmm…. go look up the definition of ‘blog’ please. now go look up the definition of ‘ghost town’. i know they have nothing to do with each other but i can promise you didn’t waltz into the 2nd definition. we give you dessert. enjoy your visit.

Later or Late?

Boy you are testy tonight. If you pay attention, the fair criticism, open dialogue, objective analysis comes out of me when I comment on fair, logical, and objective posts. When somebody babbles crap then I respond in kind. Sorry, that is just the way it is. It is called illustrating absurdity by being absurd. And if you want to “weed out and ignore” that is your right, but I call ‘em like I see ‘em good or bad.

Actually I don’t see any homerism in my post at all. Maybe anti-roaderism, but not homerism at all. And if you want sheer homerism, just look at the top of this page.

"Late." -jim rome

You heard it, we’re like demons in the night. Demons in the night are testy, and protective of their fellow demons in the night.

Correction: Not “homerism.” I should have said, “sarcasm fueled by sheer homerism.”

Apology accepted.

I mean correction accepted. I had no idea demons were pack animals, my bad.

Rawr

IF we had pulled that win outta our butts, then you’d most likely hear more of “Lakers in 5? Um, NO!” and laughing in general at the predictions made pre-Game 1 by the Laker guys here….we are hard-core blind homers here, and not bandwagon fans. It is amusing as well (to me, since I’m still relatively new…found this and started reading during the Pheonix series) the level of superstition here. But that’s all just GREAT!! because it shows the dedication of these fans to thier team, the San Antonio Spurs. You feel the same way about your Los Angeles Lakers as well, I should hope.

In doing so, we are critiquing, analyzing, and wondering aloud what exactly went wrong, and as fans, the LAST thing we want to do ever is say “welp, that’s it, our team sucked, we lost, we’re done” before…what was it…one sports guy said it best …Ah! “I will stop betting on the Spurs when I see Eva comforting a crying-his-butt-off Tony Parker, Tim Duncan getting ready to load up on D&D, and Manu gearing up for his Olympic run because they finally realize it’s over.”

No we don’t believe that going up in Game 1 by 20 means we’ll do it every game. I honestly expect Kobe to be like “oh hell no” and personally take control of Game 2 at a much earlier time than with 5 min left in the 3rd and his team down by double digits again. If ONE…JUST ONE…other Spur is on than just Tim and Tony, then poof whatever Kobe does, it’s too little, too late. He knows that, we know that, everyone knows that. I expect it to be a well fought game with the outcome decided in the last few minutes, not with one side figuring the outcome is done 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter. Last game Kobe was on, Pau got on fire late, Vuljacic was on, Radmanovic was on(they went away from him…stupid on the Lakers part), Turiaf (defensively) was on….for the Spurs, really only Tim and Tony were on. Double Tim, close the lane for Tony, and poof, there you have it, the Spurs were stopped a LOT of times, because no one or thier grandmother that didn’t have the names Duncan or Parker on thier jerseys could shoot something that went in the net. Not even Ginobili :(

Yet we did have that 20 pt. lead, and we only lost by 4. If Ginobili’s 3 went in….hell if ANYTHING Finley did was good, then we’d be talking about a monumental win in LA in Game 1. It only takes 1 other Spur …. so we are hoping we get that :)

haha, i wrote this over coffee and a beautiful morning. i had no idea pslakerfan would be so compelled to “objection sir!!!” my comment. i wrote my thoughts based on a foolish article written prematurely, in my opinion. hmmm… my opinion. i love the free world. i also love that pslakerfan decided to join in on the fun.

this is a note to you sir, just remember, you are a guest here and before you walk in here high and mighty spitting fire like the troll you are, you should take off your shoes first because the carpet here is nice. we like to keep things tidy. do your part and be kind… now go get the broom dick.

How did you know?

How did you know that I call my little buddy “the broom dick”. Trolls don’t wear shoes by the way, but I will try not to drool on the nice carpet….

Uh, he's far from a troll

If you want troll-juice Moognish, just read anything on ESPN or CNNSI….ugh.

Pslakerfan and Amazing, et. al (except for that Truthsquad person) have been anything BUT trolls….I really enjoy talking to them all, they are exceptional for Laker fans. If anything, pslakerfan doesn’t like to play the “what if” game…but sadly that’s all we have really here on the blog atm… :/

i partially agree with them being here. these are the first lakers fans i’ve come across that actually know something about their team besides “KOBE FOR MVP LOL!!” (i.e. fairweather fans).

the part i disagree on, is i still don’t like anything about the lakers, which includes…lakers fans that actually know something about their team besides “KOBE FOR MVP LOL!!” (i.e. fairweather fans).

I couldn’t agree more. I almost hope that one team (either one really) just brings it tonight and hard. Just so we will have something to go on. The way that game went I feel like we still don’t know shit about how this series is going to go. Of course we could just wait until one team wins on the others court to start our conversations back up, because until then this doesn’t mean much.

And no I am not a troll. I do however notice that my late night posts are a bit more cantankerous. I will try to work on that. (Or get more sleep).

At least some of you guys recognize the difference. Over on the Laker blog, every Spur fan is automatically labeled a troll and quickly barbecued.
