Believe

What's the point of believing if you only do it during the good times? That's not believing. That's taking a free ride. Bandwagonning. Let the bandwagonners jump. This is my team. I've seen them battle out of tough times before. They have Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan, Bruce Bowen, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili. This team has a lot of fight in it. I'm staying with this ship.

Damn right I believe. This is your time, Timmy. You led us here all these times again and again. Game 6 and 7 is ours for th the taking. The Golden God will come to play!!!

by hak518 on May 14, 2008 1:58 AM CDT   0 recs

I believe :) I know they will win Game 6. Tim’s due, esp after what happened tonight.

by Nixiack on May 14, 2008 2:43 AM CDT   0 recs

I also think Timmy will lead us. I do believe.

Those are your drawings? Me likes. Especially Bowen’s expression.

I think that is the face Bruce made at Peja after he blew past him for the layup.

I never doubt the Spurs..and I know this series is going to 7 games..but there is some bull shit going on with the officiating in this series when the Horents play at home. How many times did Parker or Manu try to drive and get hammered with a no call..and how many touch fouls did they give us?

Also, what kind of bull shit call was the one they Oberto against Ely? Ely throws Oberto to the ground and they call a double tech on it.

Chris Paul keeps traveling and using his off arm against Parker too!

So we will see what happens my friends!

Chris Paul never fails to piss me off.

The only thing I'm changing my mind about

is that the Spurs take the series in 7 games instead of 6.

Still Believing.

I believe they can

but will they? I’m not too worried about tomorrow night, but they haven’t shown yet that they have any kind of advantage in NO. Although the score doesn’t indicate, last night’s game was closer than the first two, so that’s at least something positive about the game. But I am racking my brain trying to think of any good reason why they can’t play a freakin’ 3rd quarter over there! It’s like they forget how to play offense, especially for 4 quarters. Anyway, i still believe in their abilities, I just wish they would show them off on the road.

by znimrod on May 14, 2008 12:31 PM CDT   0 recs

Tim knows he has to bring it. He was too slow attacking last night, regardless of the strategy they use on him, he has to attack quicker and be more decisive with the rock.

I'm still staying calm

We’re talking about 2 games here… One in our house and one in the nest. The only way we’re losing this series is if we drop game 6 at home. You give our guys 4 chances to take 1 game on the road and I’ll put up the farm on those odds. We knew going into this series that we had to protect our court win one on the road. We do that, we advance. Nothing has changed. Game 6 is everything.

Before the series started…even before the playoffs started—I picked Spurs over Hornets in 7. I’ve stuck with the prediction through thick and thin and I’m not going back now

by Gino20 on May 14, 2008 3:48 PM CDT   0 recs

Hm… let’s see… which team has won more game 6s and 7s in the past 10 years? I believe

Alright, I believe too. I can be furious and still believe, right? Right?! I never actually stopped believing, my trust in our poise and passion simply took a major hit last night. I think it’s very possible that we win both 6 and 7. But as a gambler I’m not putting anything on the series anymore. The time for Pop and TD to dick around has passed, and we’ll need to be firing on ALL cylinders with even games being called to have a chance. Never a bandwagon fan of the team before, so there’s nothing for me to leap from now even if I wanted to. Always have been and always will be loyal to the SPURS, but VERY disappointed in how we’ve handled this series. We’re gonna take 6 though, and close it out in front of all the basketball neophite fruitloops in Nawlins.

by SgtinManusArmy on May 14, 2008 5:52 PM CDT   0 recs

the reason I’m not worried..we will win tomorrow night..and then Manu and Tony will both have 4 full days before game 7. Since it will be game 7 no more fucking with lineups just keep attacking the Hornets and we don’t have to worry about that fucker Crawford either!!!

So lets go Spurs!!!!

I believe in alot of things...

Okay everyone all together…. breathe in with the good air… exhale with the bad air… and repeat…. and repeat.

Alright, now that we’re all in the correct frame of mind, I know that each and everyone of us have certain beliefs in life.

One of the great loves of my life – other than the Spurs – is the movies. I love movies. I’m not talking about spending two hours in front of the tube. I’m talking about the full aural and visual experience of a movie theatre. The genre doesn’t matter… it’s all about the stories, the performances, the craftsmanship and the experience. I want to be entertained, to laugh, to cry, to be frightened, to empathize, to learn, etc…. I want it all. And at the end of two hours, if you’re lucky, you’ll find some of those rare gems that click on all cylinders and gives you hope and makes you feel and sometimes makes you believe.

So… here you go.

Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) from Bull Durham: Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman’s back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

William Gates (himself) from Hoop Dreams: People always say to me, “when you get to the NBA, don’t forget about me.” Well, I should’ve said back, “if I don’t make it to the NBA, don’t you forget about me.”

Terence Mann (James Earl Jones) from Field of Dreams: The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But, baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and could be again.

Coach Norman Dale (Gene Hackman) from Hoosiers: You know, in the ten years that I coached, I never met anybody who wanted to win as badly as I did. I’d do anything I had to do to increase my advantage. Anybody who tried to block the pursuit of that advantage, I’d just push ‘em out of the way. Didn’t matter who they were, or what they were doing. But that was then. You have special talent, a gift. Not the school’s, not the townspeople, not the team’s, not Myra Fleener’s, not mine. It’s yours, to do with what you choose. Because that’s what I believe, I can tell you this: I don’t care if you play on the team or not.

Myra Fleener (Barbara Hershey) from Hoosiers: You know, a basketball hero around here is treated like a god, er, uh, how can he ever find out what he can really do? I don’t want this to be the high point of his life. I’ve seen them, the real sad ones. They sit around the rest of their lives talking about the glory days when they were seventeen years old.
Coach Norman Dale: You know, most people would kill… to be treated like a god, just for a few moments.

Sidney Deane (Wesley Snipes) from White Men Can’t Jump: You see Billy it’s like this, you either smoke or you get smoked. And you got smoked.

Elliott (Henry Thomas) from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial: I’ll believe in you all my life, every day.

That’s kind of how I feel about my team. I’ll believe in them for the rest of my life… every day. What about you? Do you like the Spurs or do you love the Spurs? Will you stick by your team in good times and in bad? Are you a bandwagon follower or are you a true fan?

Do you believe or do you not believe?

I believe. Spurs in 7.

I am happy. I am proud. - Manu Ginobili

Fantastic post. Thank you. I love movies and the Spurs as well and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you say here…let’s breathe in the good air.

Yes. I believe. Spurs in 7.

Allez Spurs!

I love movies too, and hell yes I believe. Even though I’ve only been a fan for three years, I’ll be there when we win it all,and I’ll be there when we lose it all. Bandwagoners may not suffer as much as us when we lose, but they’ll never get the pleasure we get from wins.

by Hipuks on May 15, 2008 1:20 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

incredible post. i want to say i’m a true fan, but sometimes i can’t watch us play during the bad games, it makes me sick to my stomach. but maybe that could be the passion i have for us to succeed, where it hurts too much to watch us lose. i know i’m not a bandwagon follower though. i was born in SA, raised in SA, grew up watching robinson, and saw duncan come along when i was 10. there won’t be another team that i love more than the Spurs.
