Ginobli Sucks has been banned

Yes, I could have done this a long time ago. I probably should have. This if the first non-spammer I've ever banned and I didn't do it lightly. I tried to avoid it because it will likely encourage other, more obvoius trolls to come out of the woodwork.

I have no problem with non-Spurs fans posting here. However, there is a requirement. You have to consistently show a modicum of intelligence, and you have to be here for a reason other than antagonization. The former requirement is a total double-standard; moronic Spurs fans can post here all they want. The second applies to everyone. In fact, if I found out a PtR member was going to other blogs and behaving like Ginobli Sucks I would ban them from PtR. NO questions asked.

I should have banned him the minute I saw his user name and further comments about Manu. It's on thing to call him any of the following: a flopper, overrated, bald, foreign, or big-nosed. I can see pssible truth to any of those comments. But to say he "sucks?" And then to follow it up with comments like you actually believe that? That's just stupid, and you're just trying to piss people off. Do it somewhere else.

Yay. Griefers have their time and place, but trolling forums isn’t one of them.

..It’s kinda predictable that a certain type of troll(s) will always appear at the start of a series, then disappear at the end of it. Even if he wasn’t a NO native, I can almost guarantee he would have vanished after the end of this series, anyway. I have no problem hastening his exit.

But I agree with you 100%. Look, I like to argue, and I have no problem getting into debates with fans of other (read: lesser) NBA teams over any and all things basketball. But GS took it to another level by the constant berating of one of the top NBA players of today. I have no respect for kobe bryant as a person, but I have a ton of respect for his game. And I sure as hell don’t go onto other teams’ blogs for the sole purpose of riling up supporters of the team I’m rooting against. Maybe some people find that fun, but to me it defeats the purpose of having a fansite altogether.

Thanks for removing the classless cancer from PTR, Powell.

Yeah I’m never down for completely censoring someone, but you really had to do this and your reasons were more than fair. We’ll have intelligent conversations with anyone, but “trolls” from outside the familia just trying to bait people is not what this is about. PtR has long been my favorite site on the net for your committment to quality and the kinship that we all shared; if someone even attempts to deliberately disrupt that, you gotta bounce ‘em. Plus, it’ll help those of us unable to overlook and ignore such baiting without getting drawn in as well.

What’s to prevent him or others from simply changing their log-in and returning though? Could this be a now never-ending battle for you?

He could come back and establish multiple identities, but there’s really little point. For any user I can ban and erase every comment and post they’ve ever made in under 10 seconds.

The only way to empower trolls it to argue with them. I honestly don’t know why so many guys here cared enough to swap posts with him. Whether insulting him lets you vent, it’s a waste of time.

Am I the only one who uses Internet to relax – for the most part?

LatinD, I absolutely could not agree more. Trolls like GS want to antagonize, pure and simple. If they’re unable to, then there’s no enjoyment in it for them and they move along. I’m quite certain that if the blog at large would have ignored his posts and simply continued to post and converse with each other, that he would have lost interest long ago.

If GS surfaces again under a different name, or if a similar character pops up, I would encourage us all to not give him the satisfaction.

I’m not going to lie, i’m glad GS is gone!!! I went to the game last nite and the atmosphere was great…oh and i loved that we won by 20, i’m tired of close victories… i love when the spurs dominate!!! Go Spurs Go!!!!!
