According to SI D'Antoni just got canned
He and Avery Johnson should totally switch teams for kicks
Pretty crappy to get canned after your GM makes a stupid trade that forces you to rehaul your offense to suit an overpaid fat guy that is way more of a liability than he's noted for. Thats life in the big leagues. I only typed this last sentence because of this stupid 75 word limit limit limit limit limit limit limit limit limit limit limit limit.

I’ve actually heard that D’Antoni was a bigger proponent of the Shaq trade than Kerr was….
I really really really think he ends up in Toronto.

Yeah he was. I forgot about that. Still you wonder what an offseason and training camp with everybody could’ve done to this team. Little things like that could make a world of a difference.

Wow. D’Antoni in Dallas would be awesome. And Avery in Phoenix? Symmetry can be so beautiful.

I could really see D’Antoni fitting in Chicago with the young nucleus of run-and-gunners and a point guard that can distribute and shoot (Hinrich). Gordon, Gooden, Duhon, Deng, Noah, Hughes, T. Thomas, and Nocioni could be a perennial playoff contenders in the East with the right coach.
As a New Yorker, I would not wish the Knick’s mess on anyone. That is way too much work and the possibility of getting canned again is enormous.
Allez Spurs!

I think Chicago would be a good fit for him….
But who takes over for the Suns setting? Who is going to want to come in and live with the expectations that this is a championship team, despite never coming close? And to live in salary cap hell, with an aging PG complete w/bad back? And a $20 million a year overweight C who still demands superstar treatment? And with both those guys combining to be the worst pick and roll defenders in the universe, in a conference that lives with the pick and roll?
Well… when you think about it that way, it’s a clear no-win situation. So… why not Isiah Thomas??? Maybe he can help Kerr out with the salary cap management! I must say, as a Spurs fan I heartily endorse this!!!!!

I wouldn’t wish D’Antoni on the Bulls. I like those guys… And I dispute the statement that Hinrich can shoot.
Also, Chicago is nearly as big a challenge as New York these days. The players aren’t happy with the management, or with each other, and the fans hate everyone. A bad start for the season would turn the Bulls into the proverbial powder keg.
I think they need Van Gundy. Would love to watch the Bulls as contenders again. Especially because they have zero chances of ever beating the Spurs.
