I'm not sure if I covered everything...

Long long long Game 1 recap. But I did it, so you can't say I didn't. Game 2 I'll do PtR and I'll alternate the odds and evens.

Shaq is such a bitch. I hate him. HATE. If I was in a room with him, Hitler, and Osama Bin Laden and had a gun with two bullets, I'd shoot Shaq twice to make sure he was dead.

Is that too much?

Anyway, sorry I couldn't do the live blog. I drove to mom's place but her internet was out, to my great dismay. But I've solved the problem. I got a 25 foot cable so now I can take my laptop downstairs and do it from my place. I now have no reason to go upstairs at all except to sleep and poop.

Couldn't agree more...

You’re right on with your Matt Bonner tactic. We need to make Shaq a liability from the 5 min mark to the last 2 min of every game.

Good recap. That pick and roll D was atrocious. Pop will have the dudes ready to roll and in the proper position. He’s through bullshitting, he knows what time it is. As for Shaq, I hope he keeps making those dumb ass comments. Talk about hubris.

hey shaq…didn’t you say you’d retire before you got to the level of the admirial’s play in his last season or 2? well you fat bastard, you’re well past that (and are about a trillion times less classy, but you’ve been like that your entire career), so piss off already…

(long time reader, first time poster, hi!)

Seriously great recap. Probably a bit difficult to follow with all the new nicknames – if I hadn’t read your previous post or watched the game.

Definitely prefer to have Matt foul Shaq than Oberto. I can’t wait to see Hack-a-snack in Phoenix. The booing should be legendary.

Horry

In Phx, put in Horry for Hack-a-Shaq purposes. That should really get the crowd booing!

that is one of the funniest things I have ever read from you!!!!
well done!

Time Capsule

Stampler,

This might be your best contribution yet. You do have a way of mirroring the Spurs. When they loaf through the regular season you wisely take a break as well. When they pull out one of their most amazing games ever, you follow with a classic summary of the game.

In years from now when the team sucks donkey balls, and fans wonder what it was like when the Spurs were still great, then they should refer to your summary to understand what it was all about.

However, to do so you might need to add a legend for all the nicknames. For those not familiar with Billy Ocean they might not get the reference or many of the others.

Sorry...

I hear what you’re saying, but I think it’d be lame to explain every nickname time and again. They were all explained once and that’s plenty. I prefer to think of PtR like a good TV show like Arrested Development, it pays to pay attention and read the columns chronologically.

But I pay attention to how people use (or don’t) the new nicknames. The ones that will stick will stick and the ones that don’t wont. Out of the 56 I’m sure at least half will never be uttered past this season.

Nice recap. I have to echo the nicknames comment. I really had a hard time understanding who you were talking about, half of the time. Billy Ocean is obvious and has been around for a while, but some of the others did not pop right out at me. At times I had to use the context to figure them out, and that detracted from the flow.

A glossary of nicknames might be a nice addition to your site. It could be a good source of humor as well. Ali G has a dictionary on his website and it doesn’t detract from the show.

On the Red Rocket (hah, I’ll throw in an obvious nickname), I like the idea, I am just leery about having him hit crucial buckets with the game on the line. He does not have much playoff experience (ask Ime if that matters), and I have seen him brick too many open shots this season to trust that it will work. I’d say try the strategy in the first half and see if it works, but keep him on a very short leash in the second half.

I loved Arrested Development..and I was so pissed that it got cancelled; it was definitely the best show on television by far!!!!!!

Another great show that you have to watch is on fx is
it’s always sunny in philadelphia..it’s as funny as arrested development and they get way with more crude stuff because they are on cable!

Agree 100%

Arrested Development, Sunny in Philly and the Office are some of the funniest shows out there.

I’m with you guys, but I would also add Deadwood to the list. Not funny necessarily, but definately good. Cancelling that show was the stupidest decision Showtime ever made, but it will always remain a current show for me on DVD.

Er…. not Showtime. HBO. My bad. Still a good show though.

HBO didn’t cancel Deadwood, the creators of the show decided to finish it up. There is supposed to be a Deadwood movie coming out that ties up some loose ends and gives us some closure.

That was a great series though. HBO has some excellent ones: the Sopranos, the Wire, 6 Feet Under, Rome, Da Ali G show, Curb Your Enthusiasm are all very good.

I just assumed they cancelled it since there were so many loose ends. Can’t help but believe that it was a ratings or funding thing of some sorts, since so many things were so up in the air. They wouldn’t need the movie if they’d just wrapped things a little better, but either way I’m now pumped for the movie. Hadn’t heard that before now, thanks.

Band of Brothers was the all-time best though; still get chills watching that even when it comes on History Channel.
