Watching it through the TV for once, so I'll be AFK, but I'll come back at halftime to read your wacky comments, guys.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
We are coming to you LIVE from my mom's house in Foster City, the only way I can watch a game and use the internet at the same time since I don't have a wireless connection or a downstairs computer in my apartment.

I just got some grub from Boston Market (8 oz turkey with mash potatoes and corn) and two Diet Cokes, so I'm all set.

What a shock, Nash is bitching about last year's playoffs to Michael Wilbon.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Bill Simmons and Dan Patrick seem to be the only guys who concede that we would've beaten the Suns anyway even without the suspensions.

On Simmons' podcast Bill challenged Ric Bucher to tell him why the Suns would've won, in his opinion, and he couldn't come up with a reason. He just said, "Because they would have."

Simmons told him that the Spurs had 10+ point leads in four different games and Ric just kind of hemmed and hawed about it before starting his annual trashing of Tony Parker.

Seriously, if you think I'm tough on the wee Frenchman, you should hear Bucher discuss him sometime. He's completely irrational about it. He thinks of him as barely above average.

I used to like Ric. HE wrote my favorite article about the Spurs of all time, (in ESPN the Mag in 2005, right before the playoffs, the one with Manu on the cover) but the guy has turned into a total Suns/West coast douchebag and he always picks against the Spurs.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Oh right, I just realized we get Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Breen today. Totally excited about this.

... Unfortunately we get Marc Jackson too.

by Aaronstampler on Mar 9, 2008 2:20 PM CDT   0 recs

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Van Gundy just called Manu our best player. Then changed it to their most valuable player. Jackson predictably threw a bucket of ice water on that immediately and deferred to Duncan.

I'm probably gonna have to go with Jackson on this one. Though Gino is the team's MVP, no question.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Pop has the right starting line-up out there, btw.
Finley starting, Manu on the bench.

Tony cannot get himself going if Manu starts with him and I don't think we can beat these guys today without Tony thoroughly abusing the hoser. Let's punish them for dealing Marion away.

GREAT comment; I'm with you.  I'd literally give a week's salary to hear this.  We need to start a pool.  Bill Walton's already in.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Wilbon naturally picks the Suns - no surprise there - because they're the home team.

Barry won't even commit to a pick and says the Suns don't need to worry about winning, but need to "just play well."

Whatever that means.

Before the picks Barry had a segment on how the Suns could win the West with Shaq and showed how The Big Laughingstock can open up things for Amare jumpers, (because you know, that should clearly be the focus of Amare's game, 20 foot jumpers) open three point shots, (like Phoenix wasn't getting those before the trade) and his personal one-on-one dominance.

None of these highlight clips you'll notice featured Shaq making any kind of impact on defense.

Hmmm.

25-22 Los Spurs after uno. The Big Three have 21 of our 25, which is kind of troubling. But the game is being played at our pace and the crowd is already somewhat subdued.

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
Tony's off to a pretty good start actually. 3/3 and 2/2 for 8 points. No dimes and just the one turnover I think. Our only turnover of the quarter really, in a remarkably clean game so far.

Nice, unselfish pass from Mighty Mouse, Manu can's another three. Then Shaq drills Fab-O with a huge elbow and gets an offensive foul. Already his third turnover.

Thomas had Amare completely sealed for two seconds before Parker reluctantly gave it to him. What should have been an easy two is now going to be FT attempts.

Van Gundy has such a hardon for Manu right now he could be an honorary member of PtR. Ironically, he says Manu is the 4th best shooting guard, Jackson has him 3rd (with nobody at 2nd).

Re: Game 62 @ Phoenix
48-45 Spurs.

O'Neal has been far and away the Suns best player.

Udoka and Tony playing well. Tim's alright. Manu's kind of wobbly and has three fouls. He told Michelle Tafoya he would pass more in the 2nd half, probably not the type of thing you should make known on national TV.

The Spurs won't win this game if Finley is a complet
