Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs

I was going to make an attempt at live TV blogging the game, not sure why though if it was on national TV.  Anywho, my Internet was shot yesterday, fucking Comcast.  I can't really complain though because I'm stealing the wireless signal from the guy downstairs, so failure to do so.

On to the game.  This was one of those games that made me giddy.  Seriously, I was laughing at everything the announcers were saying (which was pretty much crap), enjoyed the commercials--I counted six D. Wade t-mobile commercials, more times then he has been playing basketball in the past month-- and just all around had a goofy smile on my face for about 2 hours of my life, because we completely dominated McGrady and the Rockets (minus Scola).  What a long sentence.

We shot the lights out of the at&t center (minus the 3rd quarter), and just all around played a super cool game.  The only thing that worried me was Bowen's D.  Granted McGrady didn't score too many.  But it looks like he would easily drive past Bowen at will.  Although, congrats to Bowen for being the all time Spur leader in 3-pointers.  WTF, Manu.

After a tough March month, where the Spurs played their most games ever in a month, 18, with six back-to-backs, I will be the first to say, thank God it's over, and we are still sitting at number 1, well kind-of, in the West.  Fuck you Cuban.

I hope and pray Golden State and Denver get those last two spots.

Your 3 Stars:

  1. Luis Scola - He's shooting 100% as a Spur and still dominated us.  The only thing I see wrong in his game is fouls.  I think he's used to the European league officiating, hence why he's always in foul trouble.
  2. Tony Longoria Parker - When he hits his jump shot the way he did yesterday, he's pretty much:  Unstoppable, Tony Parker is.
  3. Michael Finley - He's shot 69% in the last four games.  To quote NBA JAM, "he's on fire."  I'm not sure whether it's the fact that Barry is coming back, or he finally got his head outta his ass, but if he keeps playing the way he is (probably not), we'll be a hard team to beat come playoffs.
Why didn't we cut RoHo and sign Scola.

Re: Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs
Couldn't agree with you more about the game. I was ready for 2 1/2 hours of high stress. Instead, it was a breeze. Kind of boring actually, but I'll take it from our Spurs. I'm kind of torn on the last seed: on the one hand, I'd love nothing more than to see the Mavs miss the whole damn thing, but on the other, I think they would be a relatively easy opponent for us (if they end up in that position). I'm not so sure about the Warriors and the Thuggs. I just don't want to see us so beat up after the first round (remember Sacramento a couple of years ago!) that we don't have much left.

Re: Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs
Although I agree with the thought of shoveling dirt on the mavs' coffin (you all know I'm a hater like that), I'm right with ag here.

The joy of seeing the mavs completely miss the playoffs will not compair with the joy of beating them in 5 games and prepping for a more challenging opponent.  On the other hand, playing either GS or denver concerns me more.  I'd MUCH rather play dallas in the first round.  GS would run us relentlessly and denver is starting to gel and always wears us down with their physical play.  I want to be as ready as possible for the 2nd round, and being tired (or injured) going into phx or utah or la would be disasterous.

Re: Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs
Also, don't forget that if the Mavs make the playoffs, their 1st round pick goes to the Nets. However, the Mavs get to keep their 1st round pick if they don't make the playoffs because it's lottery protected. You wouldn't believe it but people here in Dallas are actually talking about the Mavs tanking the rest of the season because of this...

Re: Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs
That's ridiculous, and it further enforces everything for me.  Seeing us beat them in a sweep or near sweep in the 1st round, and then seeing their further failure next year and looming implosion FAR outweighs seeing their shame at missing the 08 playoffs.

Don't think Cubes isn't onto this either though, and likely scheming and plotting in his lair.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a tank knowing now the business/long-term interests.

Re: Fucking Comcast... Rockets vs. Spurs
i never hope the spurs avoid some team or other. i only hope the spurs face certain teams so they can put 'em in their place. i wouldn't mind the spurs putting one of those funeral shovels of dirt on the mavs coffin.

ahhh... schadenfreude
I said it somewhere else - but one of the best things about the Spurs since the Robinson draft, and especially since the Duncan draft, has been their consistency. Year in, year out, they've had a decent if not spectacular chance to win it all. This allows us Spurs fan an extra bonus that few other franchises in any sport have ever been able to offer - the joy of watching other teams utterly implode.
chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.
