Someone that could help us...
Hear me out here...
I believe our biggest issue is front court D and rebounding. I floated a thread previously asking how we could fix this. Nothing much came of it but ..I have found someone i think could fill the box perfectly with what we need.
I know some may groan...but..
What about Joel Pryzbilla?
He is currently the backup in Portland, and he is one of those guys that does nothing to hurt your team, he only does positive things, and what he does he does really really well.
He rebounds like a machine, he blocks shots, he sets monster screens and he is afraid of no one. Imagine if TD had someone like that with his back? He has been taking in 15% Of available rebounds, thats really solid top tier rebounding numbers and he takes nothing but what the offence gives him. He is shooting 80% because all he does is put backs and good looks from assists.
I don't know if Portland would look at a trade because he is playing so well for them but they have Oden and Aldridge already with Frye and a lot of young tall guys on the team, I just don't know if we have the bodies to match up in a trade.

JP - $7 million man? Nuh-uh.
JP is the classic guy-who’s-overrated-because-he’s-so-underrated. He does better than you expected, but then you realize that (at $6.9m in ‘09) he’s getting paid twice what his production warrants. I like the guy as a player, and I’d take him in a heartbeat for Frankie Elson money. Can’t see the Spurs dropping seven large on him, though.
Mahinmi should fill that role when he's healthy
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
I could fill that role if I were to grow 6 more inches to be 6’10". Which do you think will happen first?
Catch the Spurs Spirit! It's a Fast-breakin' Fiesta!
come on, the kid wasnt a first round pick for nothing
Hes big and more athletic than Duncan, so Im sure he’ll help a great deal. The problem is him getting healthy then winning over Pop. But if they had the foresight to take him out of Austin to monitor his progress, then they obviously value him and see him as a potential contributor this season.

The FO allegedly went after him pretty hard when he was a free agent before last season (I say allegedly because Pop and RC are so freaking CIA about everything, you have to believe at least a little of what Johnny Ludden writes from time to time).
Anyway, he was a guy they really liked, but the numbers contract-wise got out of hand pretty quickly. I agree he is a guy that could help us, but:
1) I don’t see Portland giving him up given that fact the their new franchise center may make it ok to use “Sam Bowie” and “healthy” in the same sentence soon, and…
2) I don’t see us getting him because he would probably cost us money (over the luxury tax line, but most importantly…
3) we have built a roster full of role players that no one else wants. Seriously, what GM who wants to keep their job is going to deal for the Bonner-The JV pu-pu platter?

Nope & Not Happening
I’m a fan of his, but his price tag is too high and he’s not on the trading block anyway. He fits in perfectly for Portland and he provides insurance for Greg Oden. He has some awesome nicknames though: White Kong, Vanilla Godzilla, Ghostface, Vanilla Gorilla, Pryzbilla da Thrilla.

Yeah, I think the Spurs went after him 2-3 years ago but he decided to re-sign with Portland.
Wouldn’t he become a slightly taller Rasho?
He is a hell of a lot better D wise and rebound wise than Rasho
but yeah he is similarly expensive :(

What about David Lee? He’s under contract through 2010 at about $2M per season. The Knicks are probably stupid enough to trade him. How about Kurt Thomas and Bonner for Lee and Malik Rose? I’d really like to have Malik’s cheesesteak place open up again, and The Rocket is used to public transportation.
Got Manu?
we’d have to take on 2010 salary to take lee off their hands, like Currys albatross of a contract etc.
