A look at the schedule

These are the Spurs next 10 opponents. 7 Home 3 Road

Dec 20 vs Raptors

Dec 22 vs Kings

Dec 23 vs Timberwolves

Dec 25 @ Suns

Dec 27 vs Grizzlies

Dec 30 vs Bucks

Jan 02 @ Grizzlies

Jan 03 vs 76ers

Jan 05 @ Miami

Jan 08 vs LA Clippers

This is about as easy as it gets. The Christmas game vs Phoenix is our only above .500. Along with the Raptors they are the only team that made the playoffs last season.  The Heat are at .500 and could be above the mark by January 5th. Or not.

4 of those teams already fired their coaches.

The back to backs include Kings/T-Wolves a rare home/home game. A week later we're at Grizzlies then home to the Sixers. Nothing crazy like the Hornets/Magic roadies we just went through.

For the second time we take on the Grizzlies twice within a week. Last time we took both games convincingly enough.

Combined these teams winning percentage is .369. Spurs is currently at .600

The Suns game is the only one on National TV. Unless you count NBATV and I don't.

Is too farfetch'd to think we can go 9-1, 8-2 maybe even 10-0. Not really. So far beating up on bad teams has been working out for us. Its getting a win over the decent teams thats killing the Spurs.

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.

I’ll be doing the recap, but if you want to do another, please go ahead. Especially if you’re going to the game. Mine is mostly going to focus on how sucky my second favorite team has turned.

Actually, Hamer, it seems that I won’t be able to watch the game after all, so you might as well take over the recap duties.

Was looking forward to this game, dammit. Sigh. I hate real life.

With the ass-chewing that Pop’s giving this week, I look for us to hit this list strong. I’m predicting 7-3 though. We won’t take the Christmas day game as seriously as we should, and the Bucks always give us trouble. In addition, gotta figure in one ’everybody’s off’ game in the mix as well. But 7-3 should be enough to keep us either on top of, tied with, or only 1/2 back in the SW. Add in the fact that we’ll likely soon see Mahinmi action and it’ll be a decent enough month.

I wouldn’t feel good if went anything worse than 8-2. This stretch of games is too easy. It only gets harder from here on out. We still haven’t played the Celtics, Lakers or Cavaliers once this season.

Truthfully, 7-3 would suck ass. You guys have gotten all over me about being too pessimistic, and I was trying this new ‘positive’ thing. Realistically, I’m still nowhere near happy about this season and how we’re looking (independent even of the last two games), and I don’t immediately see it getting better.

So you can all thank the wisdom of r21x for bringing me back to my natural and healthier cynicism.

A Spurs win on Christmas day would be my favorite gift of all!
