ATS, I love you and the work you do, but you’re retarded. Tim is the best player in this game by far. Manu is simply a close second.
Having said that, I kind of expect us to lose. We never take these games seriously, and they will after last year. If we win, it’s because we really have no weak spots at guard now with hill and Mason.
You know what? We don’t have weak spots.
Spurs 96
Hornets 90
Go Spurs Go.
I agree that Tim’s #1 but is Manu really #2 in this game? Blaspheme I know.. but I can’t say Manu is a better player than Paul.
Manu is definitely more clutch and I would take him over Paul if my life was on the line cause me and Manu is tight like that.
This is what’s going thru my head..
1. peanut butter is delish..
2. I say we can beat these guys without Manu in the lineup but they can’t beat us without Paul in the lineup.
3. Ummm.. am I gonna get banned forever from this blog?
“I would take him over Paul if my life was on the line”
The line that saved you from complete and utter bannage after previous blasphemous comments. The Manu has granted you mercy….. for now.

Between Manu and Rasual Butler, Manu is the best 3 players in the THAT matchup.

i caught some of NOOCH-grizzlies today (er…it was today my time), and the hornets weren’t exactly convincing. then again, we weren’t exactly convincing against the thunder in the second half…

Nice, ATS. I can’t see Chandler’s pic, though.
Do you think you could add the streak and the last 10? I always check those. For instance, right now we have a 6 game winning streak, the second longest in the NBA at this moment (Celtics, here we come!), but both the Spurs and NO are 8-2 in their last 10 games. SO MUCH INFORMATION.
I think this will be a good game for us, regardless of what the final score is. If we win, that means that we’ve really come a long way from our initial woes, and are closer to the top that we thought. If we lose, we can use it to gauge our level, knowing there’s time to improve and—waaaaaait just a second: 12:30 AM? WTF, man? That can’t be right.
The Spurs are ruining my social life, my career prospects, and my good mood on the commute to work.
Yeah, I can’t figure out the Chandler pic thing. I tried it 4 or 5 times and gave up.
More record information, huh? I’ll put it on my list.

take peja out of the game asap like we did in the playoff series last year. Bonner could be an X factor in this game depending on how well he shoots, i’m hoping he can almost offset the frenzy of shots West is going to drop in his face tonight.

defintely bowen up peja at the tip. i agree with you on that one hamer, but we let peja burn us repeatedely at times in that series. i suppose the one game strategy is different than that for a seven gamer.
i say just take everyone else out of the game and let paul do what he can on parker straight-up (hill too). i could really live without seeing a bunch of paul alley-oops to chandler tonite.
I would like to announce
This will be the first Spurs game that I will watch on TV this year. I just arrived in the states last night and when I saw that this game will be on National TV I screamed with joy and may have peed my pants a little. Get ready for some Christojudaic Islomafacism in the game thread tonight folks.

Be careful
We don’t want him to pee in all of his pants that he brought with him for the trip and have to do laundry. With all the excitement of hearing of two consecutive televised Spurs games, he might have to go out and purchase more pairs of pants to pee in.
Catch the Spurs Spirit! It's a Fast-breakin' Fiesta!
Spurs – 92

I think G Hill plays a big role in this game. Maybe not scoring, but defensively on Scrappy (not OUR Scrappy Doo, the Chris Paul one). Paul traditionally struggles with longer, bigger guards (like Deron Williams and Kidd, when he could move laterally), which is why we have played Bowen on him at times. Hill is 2 inches taller than Paul, but those freaking arms may make it difficult for CP to get around or whip those passes to The Peja. Hill gives us another offensive option while still keeping a good defender on Paul. Maybe some Parker-Hill-Manu-Tim-Bonner lineups tonight?

Mahinmi
Does anyone have any idea when Ian will suit up for the Spurs? I really want to see this kid play.
Supposedly within the next two weeks, that’s the rumor. But it assumes he doesn’t get hurt again in the meantime.

Yay!!!
The game will be on Espn argentina tonight!!!
I get to listen to Alvaro Martin and Carlos Morales, IMO, the best announcers ever.
Of course, that’s where my TV tuner comes in handy and lets me watch the game on my computer in uber-HQ and thus comment on the game thread. Yay.

I’ll be popping by later tonight (got work). But I feel confident we’re going to walk away victors.

Allez Spurs!
Spurs never take these early "statement games" seriously, so.....
I say Pop plays around with the rotations, finds some new weaknesses to exploit should we meet up with the nooch in the postseason, but doesn’t do anything particularly earth-shattering to get the W.
Spurs: 93
nooch: 102
That said, if we find a way to win, the SW division is in some serious @#&$ when the time comes for them to play the team from SA!

Funny you mention this about Pop. My original lead-in for the game thread was that this was a trap-game for Spurs fans. The NOOCH will be pumped, the media will be promoting this as a great rematch. Blah, blah, blah and that Pop and the Spurs won’t give a shit and we will get whipped.
It was too depressing so I went with another angle.
by Wayne Vore (ATS) on Dec 17, 2008 5:27 PM CST up reply actions
It IS depressing. But that’s absolutely what I’ve been thinking. It’s happened way too often for us NOT us expect it. It says something about our expectations for this game that I’m thinking that unless, say, Finley or Mason went completely nutso crazy from 3pt land, or someone else loses consciousness with a double nickel or some such, then it has all the makings of quite a long night.
Hope not though.

I’m thinking the winning streak stops tonight as well. I’ll probably be wrong, but that’s an occurrance I’m quite familiar with. One note, Tim Duncan is 6 boards away from 10,000.
"....It is more about them than it is about the team. Cannot play with them. Cannot win with them. Cannot coach with them. Can’t do it. I want winners!" - Mike Singletary
10,000 boards
Not bad for a guy who very recently passed 1000 games.
I’m not too good at math, but I think that averages out to a per game average of pretty good

Do we have a lot of PTR members in Perth?
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
Although I’m with the others’ sentiment that we’re gonna get spanked, I still remain hopeful that Pop wants to win this one just to let the other teams know that our Spurs are still in the hunt for a title, and that NO is still not a contender (last year was a darn aberration).
