Signing Up for Game Recaps

Do you like the Spurs?  Can you put together semi-coherent thoughts while using 3rd grade level punctuation?  Then we have a job for you!

Star-divide

It's time to sign up for game recaps, folks.  Esteemed gentleman, friend, and professional sportswriter Michael Erler is going to cover all the odd numbered games.  Here are the rules for writing the game recaps.

1.  Don't sign up unless you're reasonably sure you can watch and recap the game.

2.  Game recaps should be up within 24 hours of the end of the game.

3.  Game recaps require a title.  They should either obviously pertain to the game you covered or be complete non-sequiturs.  No cursing allowed in the titles.

4.  Absolutely no racism or prejudice against any race, gender, sexual orientation, or religious orientation is allowed.  This includes the use of words typically used to demean women.  Yes, I'm talking about "bitch" among others.  I reserve the right to delete your post without contacting you.

5.  No sexual content.  This includes jokes and photographs.  And I consider photos of cheerleaders inappropriate content.

6.  You will receive no compensation.  Nor will I pat you on the back or look you in the eye.  I might nod in your general direction.

Here's the list of games available.  Just claim your games in the comments.  No more than five per person, and AusTechSpur gets first dibs (though he is of course under no obligation to do any of them).

for starters

i can do the minnesota game on 11/5.

i will be happy to volunteer for more as we go along if others don’t step up and pick them off. and of course, i will defer to ATS is he really wants to do that one.

+1 on the ‘happy to help out when needed’ comment, not the ‘i can do the t-pups comment.’

Dang, I thought it was on the ‘defer to ATS’.

by Wayne Vore (ATS) on Nov 3, 2008 5:20 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I thought that was implied as a given? “Deferring to THATS” is so engrained within who I am, that I simply neglected to post it. You know your word is my creed.

I’ll take NO on 12/17 for starters. Portland on 4/08 looks juicy too. And OK on 03/16… is it alright to refer to them as ‘Okies’? I mean, in a completely non-racial-homage-to-Steinbeck kind of way? If not, can I at least mock them for having a gay team name?

Also, I support the non-female demeaning ban thingy. When you call Ray Allen a ******, it’s not Ray Allen who gets insulted.

chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

I’ll take a pass on all game recaps. You guys can have your choice. Go get ’em. However, that T-Wolves game was looking pretty tasty to me.

I can do 11/26 against Chicago,
1/19 against Charlotte,
and 3/20 against Boston

 Sat 20 vs Toronto 7:30pm

If no one else wants it? The Raptors are my second favorite team to watch.

The Spurs are third. And first. Depends on the presence of The Nose.

Paradox

Ok, LD, I’m intrigued and need to ask a few questions in order to better understand your post:

Are you saying that the Spurs minus Manu’s are your third favorite team to watch, with the Raptors your second favorite? And that if Manu’s playing (or present, as you say) then the Spurs are your most favoritest team to watch?

If this is the case, in such times as these, when the Argentinian Argonaut recovers from surgery, you have no favorite team you can watch. Can this be true?

I’m saying that, yes. But for presence I of course meant “active presence”, as in, him being on the court, kicking ass and taking names.

Regardless, I was exaggerating a little bit. I like watching the Raptors, but I try to never miss ’em Spurs. How would I know who to bitch about, otherwise?

very correct – you’d have to guess, and that’s never as much fun

Not that guessing is so difficult when Bonner’s one of the starters.

Ok, chuckleheads. Why don’t you guys just start claiming some games in November. We’ll worry about the rest later.

by Wayne Vore (ATS) on Nov 5, 2008 10:36 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I'll take the D'Antoni's on November 11th...

…unless someone has claimed it already. I relish any game where we can (hopefully) kick Captain Pornstache’s butt.

Over/under on Starbury’s minutes: 5

Over/under on number of Chris Duhon’s broken ankles from trying to stay in front of Frenchie McWonderbutt: 2

I have to say I miss Isiah running the Knicks though. Who else would give Jerome James $20 million after one decent playoff series against SA (when the Spurs opened the lane for him to stop Ray and Rashard from going off)? Good times.
