PJ Carlesimo fired
PJ gets canned after OKC gets thrashed last night on National TV. I guess they wanted to look like they can reedem themselves so made this move. Kinda unfair that roster they have over there is really poorly built so its not as if PJ had too much to work with.
Maybe he can come back to work under Pop again like the good old days?

Didn't stand a chance.
With the roster he had there, he didn’t stand a chance. Both in the Seattle and OKC days. Aside from Durant there isn’t a lot. Were it up to me I’d can Presti. He came from the Spurs ( correct me if I am wrong ) so he should have seen on how to build a good team. Not doing it in OKC.

i agree he didn’t have anything but durant chucking up contested shots every single game, but he’s coached 3-4 teams and he has an awful record to show for it. Maybe he is a good assistant coach but can’t handle being head coach.
I respect the man cause i know he knows basketball, but i’m not sure if he’s a motivator that players need to play at the NBA level.

the Spurs do not defeat you so much as they grind you into tiny shards of psychological wreckage.

Have to agree with you – he seems like a great assistant, but not a great head coach. The Mike Martz of the NBA (not in the crazy offense way, in the better-as-second-banana way).

Then again, he’s never taken over a team that was supposed to do good anyway.

Wait on Presti, it’s still early. He’s a manchild of brilliance, just putting pieces in play now. Him AND your boy Pritcherd are cut from the same cloth.

Ok I'm being harsh.
I am a bitter former Sonics fan who wasn’t happy with some moves he made. I’ll admit I was harsh and you raise a good point about him and Pritchard. I didn’t mean for it to be a shot at the Spurs. I’ll give him this move firing PJ. Move had to be made.

If you ask me, which you didn’t but whatever, Durant is fine, but he’s too much of a chucker. He doesn’t rebound or pass nearly as well as he’s supposed to, given his height and reported skill level. And he takes too many ill-advised rushed shots that clank out, although the rest of the team doesn’t help him there.
I’m all for OKC sucking forever, anyway, considering they screwed up Seattle when they moved. That’s a no-no in my book.

You and I both.
I am all for OKC sucking forever too. They did screw up Seattle. The OKC suckiness is deserved.

And yet…… somewhere out there in the darkness……. Mike Brown still garners a paycheck.

Honestly Mike Brown and Danny Ferry have done a good job. I don’t know why people continue to rag on him. They’re doing real good right now.

It’s easy to be looking “good” when you have a guy named LeBron and the 3rd highest payroll (compared with SA at #22 and OKC at #27). He’s coasting at best. Which, when your owner is willing to spend money past the tax, is incredibly easy. Give PJ and Presti another $32mil a year for the roster and they’d look more “real good.”

Its their business if they want to dish out the money. All those hefty contracts only look real negative if they were at the bottom of the barrel. Maybe they’ll worry about getting under the cap when/if they lock up LeBron. Right now whatever they put out there is for the wins
And its not like LeBron is running out there with other All-Stars. No one on that Cavs roster has made an All-Star team in 3 years. Mike Brown is getting the best out of the other chumps.

That’s my whole argument. A good coach doesn’t require hefty contracts and high payrolls to get the best out of the chumps. Their place in the standings is irrelevant to me when deciding whether the head coach is good. Does he make good game decisions? Does he use any basketball strategies whatsoever? Does he manage the clock well? Is he a solid motivator to his players? Is he respected? Is he familiar with “plays?” I would question answering in the affirmative for MIke Brown on any of those.
We’re gonna have to disagree on this one. I happen to believe that Mike Brown (who I like and think is only a good Asst.) is a bad head coach. Although, your points do beg another discussion…….. Doc Rivers……. good coach?

Well, we all remember his amazing tactical adjustments during the Finals against us, or against the Celtics last season, I guess.
Also, I’m not sure if it was him or the GM, but whoever decided to get Ben Wallace should be shot.
We’ll see what happens when LeBroom goes to NY.

They took on Ben Wallace who is overpaid and shell of his former self, while dumping Hughes who just flat out sucks and is a team cancer.
So yeah.

Overpaid should be capitalized at all times in this case. And Ben sucks with twice the suction as Hughes (but he does suck).
Why team cancer? Hell, I didn’t follow the Cavs all that much, but I do check what’s happening with the Bulls regularly, so you might remember Ben’s prominent spot when the shit hit the fan with coach Skiles. That was cancer-ish.
But I’m not sure what I’m arguing any more. You agreed with me, right? Right.

man, i was watching that NOOCH-OKC game fri. night while trying to follow the end of the Spurs game, and i was thinking to myself, “man, that team sucks right there. it wouldn’t surprise me if PJ is fired soon.” and sure enough, SOCK! POW! ZOK! goodbye PJ, we hardly knew you as the Thunder head coach.
anyone think we’ll see a return back to our sidelines?

i could see him hanging out behind the benches for a few games like Avery J. did when he was canned.

Read on ESPN the other day that Mike Budzenholzer will be a candidate for the Wiz job in the offseason. Suspect we may see PJ back sitting beside Pop before the end of the year.
