Manu wants to play Monday
This is my first time doing a fanpost on this site, but I thought this was something worth posting. According to Jeff McDonald's blog on the Express News website, Manu wants to play Monday against Memphis. This comes shortly after Roger Mason accidentally told reporters that Manu had participated in 5 on 5 drills, which the team might have been trying to keep under wraps. Here's the link to the blog:

Well, it’s not the same case. He said he wasn’t 100% before the Olympics, and he wanted to play despite that because he wanted to represent our country.
Now he’s saying he’s feeling healthy, and I see no reason for him to lie about it. However, I also want him to wait. As long as we stay close to .500, it gives Mason and Hill more minutes, and it’d be great to have Manu come back with Tony. It’d help put too much pressure on them at once.
I agree
He was going to play in the Olympics as long as he could walk. That’s not the case here. Also, I’m sure he is comparing how he felt in May and in the Olympics to how he feels now, so he has a good idea what condition his ankle is in. I wouldn’t mind seeing them wait a bit, but there is also something to be said for slowly working him in over the next couple of weeks so that when Tony gets back Manu will already be plugged in.
+1
Since we’re clearly not going after anyone to fill any of our voids AND we’re hovering at .500 anyway, I’m all for Manu taking a little more time. Gives the young’ens more maturing time and growth, and decreases the risk of aggrevating the ankle come spring. I would be comfortable, with these currents developments, with him returning during the first or second week of December.

Either way, I think it is fantastic that Manu feels good enough to think he can play. I bet he plays two 5 minute stints on Monday and then the next game.

A fine reason to do a Fanpost, btw. And you didn’t even have to add a bunch of filler to hit the word minimum. Well done and welcome.

What a Warrior
This dude personifies what an NBA player should be. I think he should wait, but damn what a warrior.

Would be my Anchorman advice to Manu

I know just how Manu feels
I usually play basketball on Saturday mornings. However, last week, I was volunteering, and this week, my wife had a baby shower to attend, so I was on babysitting duty with our son. So me and Manu, we both know what it’s like to want to play, but to have cruel, cruel fate tell you to sit out another week.

How about waiting till the Rodeo trip?
As much as I love seeing Manu in action, I would not mind him coming back during the Rodeo trip when the Spurs really start turning it on. Here are my reasons…
1. He will be fresh during the playoffs, having more of an impact
2. Lesser chance of injuries
3. This will also help in lots of playing time for Roger and others, helping us have a deep bench during the playoffs
4. Other teams in our division have also been struggling, so, him sitting out will not result in us missing the playoffs. (Last year was a totally different situation.)
5. Coming back in Feb. will mean that the team will have enough time to get acclimated to him in the rotation and also he will be acclimated to playing with the newcomers…
there is no way in hades that MANU sits until then. one, we’ll need him way before then. two, he wouldn’t keep himself out that long regardless – he’s too much of a competitor.
+1
Even if everyone wanted him to sit longer, it would take a Mace lightsaber to prevent the Manu from playing before Christmas.

definately. 15-20 minutes a game is all I want to see from him until the playoffs

it’s a possibility if he’s as efficient as he was tonight
