The Spurs are Not Trading for Eddy Curry
I don't need to read the rumor mills or the musings of a beat writer. The Spurs are not trading for Eddy Curry. We're talking about a perennially out of shape player known for his laziness. He also has a well-publicized heart condition and player options for the next two years at more than $10 million per. He's also a worse defensive rebounder than Fabricio Oberto. The. Spurs. Are. Not. Trading. For. Eddy. Curry.
Now if he was 35 it would be another story...

Good Point
Maybe we can trade for him now, but under the stipulation that we don’t get him until he’s 35. An investment in the future – Big Time!

Exactly who is spreading these rumors about the Spurs being even VAGUELY interested in perennial problem children like Curry or Marbury? Braindamaged emus? Malevolent griefers? These players are such problem children that neither Isiah or D’antoni were willing to put up with them, so exactly WHERE on what weird parallel universe would Popovich be willing to put up with their crap?
chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

The rumor was started by RealGM. Some no name writer in New York created a hypothetical situation in which a 3 way trade involving Knicks, Bulls and Spurs and the Spurs got Curry. So yeah RealGM took that and ran with it. Kinda lame.

On Marbury...
Just one guy talking here – I totally agree about Curry…but I’m not so sure about Marbury. You think Pop and TD won’t set a pretty clear no-bullsh*t tone for Marbury to follow? You can’t see an insulted and embarassed Marbury deciding to prove all his critics wrong by fitting into the system, hustling on defence and proving he can be an unselfish team-mate?
With Parker and Manu carrying injury issues, we don;t have guys who can create their own shot, and we aren;t getting to the rim easily enough. I actually think Marbury, or possibly even Tinsley could help. If they are bought out of their current contracts by their teams, and are willing to come cheap for a possible title shot…I say we roll the dice. Either of them could play the 1-2 with Mason, leaving Hill to develop at the proper pace.
And for folks worried about Marbury’s attitude destroying the locker room – I say you need to have more faith in Pop’s ability to get players to invest in the system. This team needs some new blood and some new talent. We may have to think creatively to get it.
