Game Thread #7: at Bucks
San Antonio Spurs at Milwaukee Bucks, Nov 12, 2008 7:00 PM CST
The Spurs ushered in the George Hill-starter era with a 'W'. He played 31 minutes and did a marvelous job. Roger had an off night but FinDog and Bruce were on fire. Let's see if we can keep this hot streak going. We are 1-0 in our last 1 games. We are 1-0 in our last 1 road games. We are 1-0 in the second night of back-to-backs. Everything is in our favor.
Pop open a cold one, throw a dog on the barby, and bring your bad self on in. It's guys night out.

Officials: Mauer, Dalen, Jones
Keys To The Game:
More Defense: We played well last night. We'll need more of that tonight.
Shooting: Can FinDog and associates knock down some outside shots tonight?
Legs: Both teams played last night. Who will be the more energetic team?
Some other reading:
You can find some Bucks content at Brew Hoop.
Other:
Hmmmmmm, so this isn't a new thing: Young.

Old.

A little bonus video. This is 8 minutes long. It has several things we have read in other places and the video of Manu doing the shooting drills at the end. What I find interesting is Tim's part of the interview. I read earlier in the year at FoxSports that people would like Tim more if he wasn't so condescending to the media.

How sad that it likely took you hours to think up “A former talented youngster who was picked up by San Antonio to wither and die” before finally settling on Terry. Although, I would KILL to have even old Terry these days. And that’s not even a fair description for him considering our current roster of has-beens and fossils.
Sorry to have missed the Knicks game, but it looks like my absence may have been the mojo needed. That, or we simply own D’oh wherever he is. Actually I like that idea better. Either way, I’ll be deliberately missed the Bucks now as well. We need all that we can get at this point.

add in a couple extra hours for having to find a former Bucks player

Not much to add, although I do credit our win to my pic of the flying cheerleader. But since I can’t find any, Bango will do.

Just kidding. Can’t live without cheerleader dunks.

I meant it literally
This is lots of fun: a list of the Chinese nicknames for some of the current NBA players. It’s old and most of you’ve probably already seen it, but I thought I’d share it. Would be a pity for you to miss Duncan’s “Stone Buddha” nick, or Manu’s “Argentina’s Flying Man”.

The resemblance is uncanny
Dude i had that issue, it was the best.

whose wedding did the reverend TC preside over? wasnt it dave robinson’s? or perhaps sean elliot’s? anyone remember that?
hopefully, tonite’s outcome in milwaukee will be better than some of those in recent past history. always seemed like it was mo williams who gave us fits. now he’s with celveland, so……mike redd is out as well. see there, i talked myself into calling this game winable
SA 92
Milw 89
(please note that im giving the opponent an extra 10 points in my standard score prediction due to our banged up state)
it was sean's wedding

who are you who can summon fire without flint or tinder? there are some who call me ... tim.
Always have trouble against the Bucks
We seem to always have troubles with the Bucks. I hope for the best.
Also, I have been spending my time searching college and international basketball websites anticipating our number one draft pick (#1 of the entire draft). So far, my search for the next Duncan/Robinson is not going well. I have only found a single serviceable power forward that is NBA ready. Why couldn’t we have tanked last year!
Internet coverage
According to the local rag in Corpus, FSN Southwest will not carry tonight’s game. Anyone have a web link where it can be viewed live on the net? Thanks.
LatinD usually finds them at game time.

Check the MYP2P NBA forum, they’ll have it.

DAMN!
I almost jinxed us! The cheerleader pic didn’t show.
Here it is, just as the game starts:

We can’t lose now.
that was meant to be posted about LatinD’s pic
I am calm, filling myself with patience - Manu Ginobili
WOW! What a shocking turn of events, the bench has built a double digit lead (biting tounge and inserting foot in mouth)
"Well if I am truly crazy, don't you know I like my life that way"
This is Finley circa 1982, wait, how old is he again?

She would totally beat me at a game of WHORSE!

you guys are familiar with the vid of Bogut working the high fiving action solo after his made FT, right?

Sorry, there’s a game on??
Your picture distracted us for a while.
Let’s hope the Spurs don’t have one of their famous scoring droughts in the 3rd.
(Marbury here yet?)
Spurs go quick
Spurs offense at their best when making a couple passes and then a shot. The dribbling around and Duncan holding the ball in the post is not good.
How many 3’s has Tolliver shot? And made?

Well look who finally decided to show up.
"Well if I am truly crazy, don't you know I like my life that way"
Damn you TD, I don’t know whether to love ya or hate ya!
"Well if I am truly crazy, don't you know I like my life that way"
Geez, what’s going on??
Spurs with a chance to tie it or go for the win??
(although this should never have happened)
What are you guys talking about involving The JV?
by Wayne Vore (ATS) on Nov 12, 2008 9:21 PM CST reply actions
Can’t believe I’m saying this, but the only one that showed up to play today was Finley. Kudos, Findog.
Game ball to Findog. TD with 5 boards, Bogut with 17. This loss falls squarely on the shoulders of Pop, TD and The JV.

Well, guys, this’s been a painful season for us, but as always it’s more bearable when I’m in these threads.
Off to bed. Night, fellas.
Loved the chat, you guys are comedy.
The pinnacle of comedic genius reading this chat after the game?
“Get Finley in the game dammit!”
Wait…. that was serious?!?!!!
Wow fellas. I think we’d better get used to requiring a TD shot at the buzzer to OT or win against the bottom-dwellers of the league. We just don’t have the firepower to hang with even other average healthy teams. I’m not even going to mention us facing the good, or even GREAT teams. It’s gonna be a long lonely road til our studs are back. Look on the bright side though- most other teams facing the bad luck we’ve had and losing 66% of their stars would be in the same boat. Houston, Boston, Nooch…… I can’t see them banging much better without 2 of their 3 studs. Imagine Dallas…… there’s encouragement there, right? Yes, our “bunch of suck” is significantly suckier than other teams’ but we’re just the victims of bad breaks (or sprains) right now. It’s gonna turn around.
Light slowly peaks across the horizon illuminating the terrain before us with a soft eerie glow of a fire to come. And the sun’s name……. is Emmanuel.
There’s a pun there that may not translate very well. You know I’m aware of the correct spelling of our savior, it’s an abomination to insinuate that I’m not.

i think the funnies comment on the thread was “asshat.” that was a classic that still has me chuckling….which is about i can muster after pooping away the game by giving up a 20-7 run to start the 4th. sad sad times indeed.
last night was FDAABOS (fin dog and a bunch of suck). i cant even believe im saying that. but FDAABOS = loss to the bucks without mike redd for the whole game and chuck villanueva for most of it. pathetic.
