kaman and mobley on the market
so i saw this rumor from the LA press. there are lots of smarter people than me on this site, can any of you tell me if we have the pieces and the cap space to make a deal for either of these two go down?
my preference would be for kaman. i'm reasonably pleased with mason's game so far, but we desperately need a second player in the post that can score and collect a few rebounds. kaman's efficiency is awesome. he usually scores in double digits while taking less than ten shots and he can play defense.

Kaman has the following salaries after this year: 10.4, 11.3, 12.2
I would be stunned if the Spurs front office pursued him with that amount of money owed him. That’s a lot of beans, but I guess it is possible. It would take a trade of Oberto, Bonner, and Thomas (or Bruce in the mix for Thomas or Oberto). Outside of cap flexibility after next year, I don’t see how the Clippers would take those guys.
Mobley maeks 9.5 next year. I can’t imagine any circumstances in which we would trade for him.

9.5 for Mobley?
No wonder Elgin got shipped out of there. That’s a ridiculous figure for a broken-down streak shooter with questionable defensive skills.
As for a deal, I question whether Kaman could be effective in our defensive scheme. Other guys who are more fleet-footed than he is – think Nazr and Elson – struggled to rotate quickly enough for Pop’s liking and were invited to leave. That’s why Bonner is in the doghouse now. I like his ability to score in the post and rebound, but he may be a bigger defensive liability (in this system) than we could afford.

Kaman sounds somewhat intriguing.
