I didn't tell you so just yet, but........

Star-divide

Saw that Avery Johnson attended the Spurs camp a few days ago......I stayed quiet on it for a few days to see if anyone on PtR would cover it, but since you all haven't, I gotta step in.

I took a lot of guff on here for suggesting that Avery Johnson will one day replace Pop.  However, please note that Step One in the process is now complete.  For the record, I'm OK with it - and I'm even trying to work my way into actually wanting this to happen.

Avery went away and cut his teetch with another team , had a measure of success and I'm sure he learned a lot about what not to do in Dallas.  This will only serve us well down the road. Pop won't live forever and it has to be somebody right?  Why not Avery Johnson as opposed to anyone else that it out there?

i don’t think i would mind too much with having Avery take Pop’s place. i will say that Avery’s stint in with the mavs didn’t help my estimation of him after his retirement. since i live in the dallas area, the one place out of 29 teams that would do the most damage to my view of him was here, the little hoser chose it! i used to be a big fan of him for a long time, but the past 3-4 years has not been kind to him from my fan standpoint – not that that’s important. okay, all that to say this, there could be worse and there could be better choices for Pop’s replacement. i guess it would be nice to have a former player on the sideline in that case.

Completely agree with znimrod on this one. It’s intriguing, but I can’t get over the feeling of being burned by Avery taking the mavwrecks job to begin with.

I’m still very very high on Quin Snyder too; I think he’d potentially be a good choice or even a great Asst. choice.

Why not Avery Johnson? Is “I don’t like him” a valid response?

No?

I hadnt even thought of Pops replacement

He says hes gonna stick around as long as Timmy does, so hopefully another 5-6 years….so a lot can happen b/t now and then, it could even be Vinny Del Negro by then

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I would love to see Avery back on our bench.
