That's on small step for Spurkind

This has been one of my most annoying things about the Spurs, and it has finally been remedied. I just hope that he's not worse than the nasally, uninspired, non-entertaining, ear-grating voice of a PA announcer that was Stan Kelly. But if you have a knickname of "Big Kev" in the middle of your first and last name, then you should automatically be an upgrade...am I right, or am I right?

Ugh ..

Big Kev is … atrocious at best — I just can’t stand his fake enthusiasm and shtick.

Call me old fashioned, but Stan Kelly’s voice was perfectly in sync with the professional tone of the team. In all likelihood, Stan was an 18 year veteran that would likely have been paid a lot more money than Big Kev in his first year of announcing, and the Spurs decided to save some cash. Neat.

i dont like it. to me, big kev was way more annoying. perhaps he will be different in a more serious role……i’ll give him a chance, but i probably wont actually get to a home game until late in the year anyway, so it will be all TV for me until then.

i will forever remember stan kelly for a phrase uttered during a game back at the alamo dome several years back. spurs were down double-digits in mid/late 4th and the crowd was getting a little restless. as play resumed from a time out, stan belted out a loud “stiiiiiiick with ’em.”

a freind of mine who couldn’t care less about the spurs was with me and stan made the both of us laugh uncontrollably. we still use the phrase regularly.

well, i haven’t heard “big kev” yet, so i’ll have to wait to see who I like better. but i have never liked stan’s voice, and to me, almost anyone will be an upgrade. like you, it’s all tv for me pretty much, except for one game in january vs. the hornets (stoked about that – haven’t been to a game in a couple years)!
