Spurs waive G-F White
July 23, 2007

SAN ANTONIO (TICKER) -- The San Antonio Spurs on Monday waived guard-forward James White.

White appeared in six games for the NBA champions last season, averaging 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds. He did not play during the club's postseason run.

White spent part of last season with Austin in the D-League, where he played in 15 games and averaged 16.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Just terrible news.

Come on guys.... the kid was just a good leaper... nothing more.... Popovich had 1 year to see if White was more than a good dunker...and it seems that was the only thing he could do well
Remember, we just won a championship witha team that could go an entire game without dunking the ball....2 points are 2 points no matter how spectacular the play is....

I totally missed this post and added a diary. Sorry. I guess I was too stricken by what happened. I think I understand, but I really, really, really wanted him to work out. I love the spurs, but it would be nice if one of them was younger than me. And could dunk through his legs from the free throw line. And liked sombreros. And had a cool nickname like Flight.

anybody know where james white is from originally? i know he played college at UC, as i live in cincinnati...just wondering if there is a possibility of him showing up somewhere in the nati now that he is out of a job....gotta think someone will pick him up. maybe he could even go back to austin?
