Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

New Spur # 2 -- Marcus Williams

Plusses:

  1.  He's a small forward!  We could actually use a small forward!
  2.  Only 20.
  3.  Played at Arizona, which gives Sean Elliott something to talk about for the entire regular season.  Unless he doesn't make the team.
  4.  Played for a man named Lute.
  5.  6'-7".
  6.  Averaged 17 and 7 as a sophomore.
Minusus:
  1.  American.  The Spurs already have some of them.
  2.  There's already another Marcus Williams in the NBA.
  3.  Had only 1 rebound in 36 minutes in Arizona's tourney loss to Purdue.
  4.  Again, does not replace Jacque Vaughn.
  5.  Left college early; clearly not the best decision maker.

Re: New Spur # 2 -- Marcus Williams
The ESPN guy from Duke, his name escapes me right now (Bilas?  Is that right?) said his weaknesses were 3 point shooting and defense.  Clearly he'll fit in perfectly in San Antonio.

It's like our front office feels guilty for lucking out on Manu & Tony plus the whole nabbing Duncan in the lottery thing, so they've decided to not try in the draft for the past 5 years.

Re: New Spur # 2 -- Marcus Williams
not sure why we drafted this guy either...particularly when other guys that better fit our needs were available - jared jordan to name one....or even taurean green. i guess the spurs will be looking at either (gulp) re-signing jacque vaughn or going the veteran route to find a back-up PG.

I think Marcus Williams will turn out to be a respectable player... eventually.  He's from U of A.   That's gotta be worth something.  Wildcats seldom disappoint.

Re: New Spur # 2 -- Marcus Williams
He'll be a nice addition to the Austin Toros.

But if one of our wings were to get injured (knock on wood), he could be worth taking a look at.  Looked a little Josh Howard-ian in the little footage I've seen of him.  Maybe it's just the hairstyle.
